DG 800 Glide Computer

Featured Replies

The glide computer in the default DG800 is giving incorrect winds from what AS2012 is saying in the ATIS at the surface. Any way to correct that?

The glide computer is matching the winds reported by hitting "ctrl + z", and windsocks at different airports.

Changing to Standard Weather Depiction from DWC has solved this problem for me.

Just to explain this: DWC depiction mode alters the ambient winds, so winds are the same at your aircraft as well as anywhere in the sim world at the time, i.e. the ground. If you are altitude you may be getting 300@75. This will be the same at the ground at the airport in question. This is why you will note discrepancies with ATIS/surface information.

This is discussed more in the manual. Smooth Cloud and Standard Depiction mode do not use an ambient wind override, and station surface data will be accurate.

AS includes an SDK so developers of any product can receive DWC information if they desire. FSUIPC, and Radar Contact, for example use this. You may wish to ask the devs of the add-on to consider supporting Active Sky DWC data.
