About Me
I am 70 hours into my PPL, and use FSX as a tool to practice VFR navigation with a sectional, a watch, and an E6B in ORBX areas, or bang around the pattern at Danbury Municipal.

I'm attaching a checklist from my flight school for the 172Rs they have. They are rated at 180hp.

Somewhere on the A2A forum, I believe someone posted that the ability to save the state for different aircraft was in the works and it wouldn't just be limited to accusim aircraft. Can't remember which thread it was in though. Edit: after looking around, I can't find the post I was referring to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Thank you for rechecking after recalibrating, I'm sorry it had no effect. I hope the team can get to the bottom of it soon. Unfortunately I haven't sprung for Longview Ranch or I'd do a few tests there myself, but I fear that it would be of no use since it would not be even close to an apples to apples test. However, I do have Vashon (2S1) which is a grass strip. I'll try a flight out of there and report back on the friction with the hardware calibration "solution" tonight and see if I find any interesting results.

You're right, I apologize for the jab. I just have to be a contrarian and disagree for disagreements sake hence my previous post. But I wonder if you wouldn't mind trying something with your Saitek pedals. I too was experiencing issues with sticking brakes and followed Mike's post about null zones and sensitivity level. I set them as per his screen shot. I then proceeded to hit Calibrate, select my rudder pedals, hit properties, hit the settings tab, hit Calibrate, and proceed through the Windows Calibration wizard. After going through that, my sticky brakes are gone.

Actually Lewis did just acknowledge your findings in the thread on the A2A forum. With everyone expecting an immediate reply to forum posts, it's amazing that the A2A team has had time to fix any bugs. Re: Taxi Friction.. I thought "ctrl+." is the parking brake shortcut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Just hitting the brakes ( "." by default) also seems to be unsticking my brakes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I've had a bit of a breakthrough at Bowerman. If I apply and release the parking brake and then throttle up to 1000-1200 rpms, I start to roll. As soon as I touch either toe brake (using saitek proflight rudder pedals) the plane comes to a halt. If I re- set and release the parking brake, I start to roll again. I think the issue is something with the brakes not releasing 100% even though I'm not depressing the toe brakes at all. And yes, I've checked my sensitivity, config, ect... and my pedals work perfectly fine with every other addon. The problem is specific to the a2a c172. As for the intermittent clickspots, I'll get it once in a while after quickly mousewheeling through radio frequencies, hiding the yoke, or dropping the flaps but the clickspots always come back after a few seconds. I can see how this problem is a dealbreaker for some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

A2A seems to be having domain troubles again. Site seems to be down.

Realair posted a news update on their site today. http://www.realairsimulations.com/home.php?page=home http://www.realairsimulations.com/list_box.php?page=coming Good news for B60 Duke pilots, not so good for the C172 pilots.

It depends on the prop. The R prop will give you 160hp while the flatter S prop will give you 180hp. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free

Having a saitek yoke on my desk, I hide the yoke on the pilot side and leave the passenger side VC yoke in place just to confirm it is moving in the same direction as my yoke is. Good to know, I hope it gets patched in soon. It'll be fun to recreate flights around the airport in right traffic where you don't need aileron till you're ready to turn base.

Loving the plane so far, but I have noticed that the amount of throttle needed to taxi is too high at Orbx airports (tested at Bowerman Field and Ocean Shores Municiple, both paved) and that there is no need for right rudder during climb-out and there is a need for left rudder during a climbing left turn onto crosswind at Vy. Other then that, being able to sideslip and forward slip on final is great. Looking forward to many hours of banging around the pattern and doing short vfr x-country flights with a sectional and nav log. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Solar Impulse landed at JFK last week completing it's cross-country tour of the United States. It was open to the public over the weekend. Unfortunately I was walking in early for my ticket time just as the two pilots, Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard, were walking out. It would have been great to hear them speak about their adventure, but I suppose I'll have to try to see them again after they stop in New York during their around-the-world-flight in 2015. Here are a few iPhone photos. And a picture of a Dreamlifter on the ramp outside the hangar.

According to A2A's forums, their C172 is in beta testing http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=34595 I am training in a G1000 C172, but would like steam gauges for the sim. Having a partially modeled G1000 would be a disservice to an aircraft that has had the accusim treatment. I also agree with Alan_A's sentiment about the desirability of an Aerosoft 4x Katana style of wear and tear, preflighting ect... It would make the product that much more personal.
