PMDG 737 FMC and Pro Flight Emulator

Featured Replies

I am considering buying PMDG 737 ans have been watching various tuitorials in relation to flying the plane using the FMC.

Now I use Pro Flight Emulator and also FS Build which can export the flighplan direct to the PMDG 737 FMC.

I haven seen any tutorial videos with this particular aircraft whereby ATC is being used.

My question therefore is whether or not the PFE ATC would be in sync with the FMC as the flight plan contained within the FMC would have differing flight levels along the waypoints together with different speeds.

I apologise if the answer is obvious but i just want to get it right in my own mind.

I thank you in anticipation.

Hi

When using PFE you can set the end of your departure procedure and the beginning of your arrival procedure which means that PFE will only ask you to climb to the altitude that you set as the end of the SID and will not ask you to do anything else until you have reached that point, it is the same for the STAR section of the flight, so they are not a problem as far as the PMDG NGX FMC’s altitude and speed restrictions for those phases of the flight is concerned, as for the enroute section of your flight you probably will never get the flight levels in PFE to match the FMC entries, but then again on a real flight ATC will sometime ask you to deviate from your planned altitudes so to me it is not really a problem, in fact it adds to the flight to have to work that little bit harder rather than sit back and enjoy the ride, after saying that you can alter the altitudes of some of the PFE waypoints to match the FMC entries, but that would involve starting FSX programming the FMC and then popping out of FSX starting PFE and adjusting the waypoint altitudes that PFE has generated and then connecting to FSX, which is a bit of a pain so I tend to get PFE set-up before starting FSX and then designate the altitudes I want to reach at the end of the SID and the start of the STAR, and then adjust the enroute waypoints to suit the new altitudes you entered as the end of the SID and the start of the STAR to give a smooth climb profile and go fly.

And that’s about it really, by the way PFE will take care of all communication frequency changes for you when flying the NGX without any problems, so that is a bit of weight of your workload during your flight.

I hope it helps.
