do i have gex installed?

Featured Replies

hello guys im just wondering if i had gex installed, prior to that i had utx and i installed gex but it didint make a diffrence when in fsx still looked like the utx textures. so what i did was uncheck everything to do with ultimate terrain in the scenery library in fsx. and did another reinstall of gex again and these are the results, to me they still look like fsx scenery alone no gex at all and when at night there are no strret lights at all.

GEX replaces your default scenery textures (after backing them up). There are not too many textures with UTX as it is a utility that tells GEX or the default textures what goes where. So, if it's a city you're flying over, UTX will tell FSX what textures to render. Since GEX backs up your default textures/scenery, you can uninstall it and move your the backup to the default scenery folder and you'll have your default textures back. If you unchecked all the entries in the Scenery Library for UTX, it is not working. So I'm thinking you have GEX textures installed and working. GEX does not install lights or traffic lights. That function is enhanced by UTX but it also should work with the default FSX. As suggested by DickB, you can get more valuable support at the GEX or UTX forums.

Best regards,

Jim
