ssd drive and win7

Featured Replies

Hi

There is a hardware retailer near me that has ssn drives on offer namely a 128GB OCZ Octane SSD 2.5-Inch SATA II Hard Drive so I was wondering what difference it would make if I only had my fsx installed on the ssd drive and my win7 64 bit on my normal sata drive.

I don't really want the hassle of reinstalling windows if I can help it or would having setup this may stop the ssd working at its best because it still has to work with the sata drive and windows operating system

thanks

Most people prefer to have Windows on the SSD to make the whole system run faster. You could clone your current hard drive over to the SSD, including your FSX install. Only thing is to make sure you have less than 128GB data saved on the hard drive before you clone to the SSD or you'll run out of space during the clone. Ideally it should be well below 119GB as a 128GB drive formats out to this amount.
