September 25, 201213 yr Hello, for some time now Ive been having an issue where specifically the PMDG 747 has very bad and unstable fps in fsx. In game the fps goes from 25 fps then all the way down to 3 then back up to 25 then other low numbers like 5. I set it to unlimited then it goes from 3 to 40 then down to 6, I set it to 10 and it goes from 4 to 9. Some info that I can think of is that I have over 10 payware planes and over 30 payware sceneries. Could this be the case? When Im flying I only have FSX, VAFS5 and FSInn running and that only consumes around 40% CPU and 30% Physical memory. My computer specs are Windows 7 64 professional Intel I7-2600 ` 3.40GHz 12GB DDR3 memory C drive (where FSX is located) with 102GB and 45GB free space available. This computer is also brand new and powerful compared to my old computer which died because I used all of its memory. All help appreciated, thank you Joe Barton
September 25, 201213 yr Hi Joe, what graphics card are you using? Also you might want to jump over to avsim forums and check out Kostas FSX tweaks. Follow to the T and you wont be disappointed. These tweaks are for nvidia cards. Good luck, Jamie Moses Jamie Moses
September 25, 201213 yr Hi Joe, you can also go to the venetubo site and use your system specs and then tweak your fsx.cfg file - works wonders for me! All I can say apart from that is that the old 744 is a little heavier on frames than the newer NGX for example. I also found that FSInn can be a bit tough on your system, especially when using higher distances for detecting other aircraft. Use a lower distance, like 10 or so nautical miles. That SERIOUSLY increases performance, although in your case, with your CPU, I cannot see that that should be such a huge issue. It is always worth a check though :-).
