Question about embedded images

Featured Replies

To AVSIM Staff,

Recently while trying to do some tutorials in the AVSIM RTW Private forum, I tried to embed images in my post that are hosted elsewhere, and I made sure to follow the rules laid out on this forum, 1600 px wide, png/gif/jpg and wasn't able to post them. I kept getting the following error: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community

I am wondering if there is something i might be doing wrong.. For example I was trying to post this pic a couple minutes ago and it wouldn't let me.. Instead I had to upload it and embed it that way, however since uploaded images get dumped, its not a long term solution.

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

The image link you're trying to post must always have some type of extension (ie .jpg .gif etc). The link you included up there is a forward link that isn't actually the images DIRECT link. So with that said, what you need to do is figure out how to get the images direct link from the site you're using. It's been a long time since I've done it but I believe there's a way to right click the picture and get the link that way.

Sincerely,

Chase

I actually own the website where the images are stored... Ahh yes, you are correct, okay, I'll stop using URL shorteners.. Guess it works.. :) Thanks Chase, really appreciate it..
