September 29, 201213 yr I have been doing a lot of flying in OrbX scenery and have noticed a difference in runway numbers such as KTDO runway 06/24 in Orbx, and in real life I presume, is 05/23 in FSX (according to ATC at least). I believe this is a consequence of FSX being 6 yrs old and runway numbers can change over time due to magnetic variation. My question is this. If I use modern charts such as found on navaid.com will there be a conflict in course settings due to this anomaly or has this been considered by OrbX when creating the scenery? I ask because as I approached another airport KSEA R34L I set my HSI for 343 degrees as stated on the chart but on approach I had to fly in manually as appeared to be heading off course. Now, this may be because I am only learning IFR techniques and duffed it but if this anomaly is widespread does it make flying in IMC conditions a bit of "hit and miss" in FSX. I apologize if my post sounds confusing but I'm trying my best to express myself without having the correct "lingo". Anthony O'Brien
September 29, 201213 yr ...I ask because as I approached another airport KSEA R34L I set my HSI for 343 degrees as stated on the chart... Magnetic is 343, true is 000. The Airport Diagram will show the current MagVar (16.9E), which will probably be off from what FSX and it's years old information shows.
September 30, 201213 yr 6/24 is correct as verified here: http://www.airnav.com/airport/KTDO John John Wingold
