Graphics Card Ready for Replacement?

Featured Replies

I currently have an Nvidia GTX 580 Graphics card mounted in my system and I also use Nvidia Inspector, but I seem to be having some problems with the graphics in FSX, for example, yesterday I was flying the Aerosoft Katana 4X over ORBX scenery, and when I selected the map view, everything was ok, but when I switched back to the V.C everything was black. Switching through the different views, spot etc, I eventually ended up with views of the aircraft against a black background, and then ended up with several different views of the aircraft! I ended the flight, and the picture of the aircraft on the selection screen had a lot of its parts missing, canopy, wheel spats and parts of the bodywork.

Is this an indication that my graphics card is on its way out? The card is only 18 months old (I know that doesn’t mean much) and it seems to work ok in Rise of Flight and Il2 Battle of Britain so I don’t want to replace it if it isn’t broken.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ian.

Your graphics card is likely fine... This is a known bug with FSX when using GPU's that allocate large amounts of VRAM.

Do you have this in your FSX.CFG?

[GRAPHICS]

HIGHMEMFIX=1

Hi Ben,

thanks for your reply. No I don't have that, will it help?

Regards,

Ian.

It should resolve your issues.

Just insert HIGHMEMFIX=1 under the [GRAPHICS] section of your FSX.CFG
