flight plan custom waypints

Featured Replies

Hello

can anybody tell me how to add custom waypoints other than vors, ndbs, and airport to a flight plan inside active sky 2012

Is it even possible .For example, intersections and victor airways

thx Lee

Named intersections should be supported if coordinates can be found for them in the FSX database - airways are not. Waypoints expressed as latitude/longitude are also not supported at this time. The easiest way to create a plan containing custom waypoints is to create an FSX plan containing them via a tool like FSBuild.

Thanks for the suggestion

It seems that when I our a named intersection in the box, it said not found. Is fsbuild the simplest way to go or is there a better more intuitive user friendly planner.

thanks DJ for your quik response!

There are other planners out there that will generate VFR plans (Plan-G is freeware) and IFR plans - it isn't clear how well they support custom waypoints. I suggested FSBuild because I've used it for years and recently figured out how to finesse it so that lat/lon waypoints can be read by AS2012 (there's a fairly recent thread on here that discusses that, as I recall). You might ask about planners in the FSX forum - you'd get more folks responding there. In general any flightplanner that will let you enter custom waypoints with lat/lon coordinates and that will export an FSX plan can be used. In truth, if you can read an FSX plan it's pretty easy to use a text editor and put your own waypoints into it if you know the coordinates for those points.
