I was gone as I was discouraged by constant FSX CTD, they didn't happened during every flight but nearly. I am now back, should I move on to P3D? Is it where the community is going towards?

Rather than try to persuade you one way or the other, I would only suggest that you read through "The Unofficial Prepar3d Site" on the AVSIM Forum Community.

 

I have purchased Prepar3D Academic and find it interesting. It is being marketed as a training product as opposed to an entertainment commodity and it's interfaces are not quite as intuitive as those found in FSX. I find it to be a marked improvement, but that opinion is subjective as you will see in reading the above referenced material.
