July 9, 200421 yr For the Simflyers Phoenix scenery you have to have the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= line in the CFG at 21 in order for the airport bridges to work right. Now my TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= is set at 20, so if I change it to 21 will it effect any other airport or anything else in FS9?
July 9, 200421 yr No it shouldn't.21 means show up to 76.4m mesh detail.20 means show up to 38.2m mesh detail. 19 (the highest value) shows up to 9.6m terrain mesh.I have mine on 19 and the terrain slider all the way to the left (the slider means how far in the distance to render high rez mesh)Speed.
July 9, 200421 yr Thanks speed I had no idea what that ment. But I think I have to leave mine on 20. I just looked at the old cfg file before my funcal (payware) scenery was installed and it was at 19, but the cfg file after the scenery was installed is now at 20.I guess I will just leave it at 20 and change it to 21 when I fly to or from Phoenix.
July 9, 200421 yr <21 means show up to 76.4m mesh detail.<20 means show up to 38.2m mesh detail. <19 (the highest value) shows up to 9.6m terrain mesh.Sorry Speed, but this is backwards. Should be as thus:19= 76m (LOD9) mesh20= 38m (LOD10) mesh21= 19m (LOD11) mesh9.6m mesh is LOD12 but FS9 doesn't recognise any higher resolution than LOD11 (19m), so having LOD12 mesh in the sim is a waste.Hope this helps,Greg
July 9, 200421 yr Ooops, yes I had it backwards, and 19 rather than 9.6Thanks for correcting me.You may as well set it to 21 as mine is (I checked this time), if you only have 38m mesh thats all that will be rendered.Speed.
July 9, 200421 yr Thnaks for the help guys :-)I get very confused with the mesh numbers and personaly I can't tell the difference between 20 and 21, so I will just change it to 21 and leave it there.
July 9, 200421 yr Setting this to 21 can cause stuttering and/or slower texture loading, but if your system can handle it you should set it to 21 and enjoy the more accurate terrain mesh.DavidEdit: Mikkel, this is an entry in the FS9.cfg file.
July 9, 200421 yr Yes, unfortunately setting it above the 19 default can mess with some other sceneries. I run the FSG 38m mesh and it looks fine with a setting of 19. If I go above that the waterfalls at my favorite airport (Emma Field) turn into pits.It won't hurt anything to experiment... just find the setting that works best for you and your favorite areas. Just remember to restart FS9 between each cfg edit.
July 10, 200421 yr Is it the one called "Terrain Mesh Complexity". I just did a screenshot comparison on some FSGenesis mesh around San Diego and I must say that I don't know why I have it set at 100 when I hardly see a difference. It's only the farther away mountains that have a tiny more detail to them...or am I seeing things?-Mikkel
July 10, 200421 yr This from a post by Chris in the Tips and Tricks forum:TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=96.000000 This is a value from 0 to 100 that control the DEM radius (it is linear in area) TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000 This the lowest value used to calculate the DEM radius based upon the TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000 This is the highest value used to calculate the DEM radius TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 This control the DEM resolution: 18 = 150m DEM, 19 = 75m DEM, 20 = 37m DEM, 21 = 19m DEM TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8 This controls the terrain texture size. Valid values are 8 = 256x256, 7 = 128x128, 6 = 64x64 TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=4 This controls the autogen density TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1 This turns on/off the gradient map (cliffs). TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1 This turns on/off the extended texture ring TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS= This is the default radius in textures for all rings, default is 2.5 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS= This is the radius used for the inner ring when the extended texture ring is turned on, default is 4.0 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS= This is the number of rings to add when using extended texture rings, default is 1
July 10, 200421 yr I'm sorry is this post for me? I don't get it...what does it have to do with me post? :D...or it may just be my bad engrish. :)-Mikkel
July 10, 200421 yr http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?name...viewtopic&t=466This is a link to the FSGenesis forum discussing the subject. Note the info Holger gives.Hope this helps some.Larry
