AI conflict between aircraft and ships?

Featured Replies

I've loaded up on AI airline packages and am enjoying AI after being with FS since the Bruce Artwick days - it's really fun when there's no VATSIM ATC where I want to fly.

I've noticed that none of the boats or ferries are running nor are the Acceleration aircraft carriers. I tried reducing AI aircraft traffic, road and airport vehicles, GA aviation, etc. to zero and pumped up the ships and ferries slider to 100%.

Is there a way to resolve the issue without having to uninstall all of my AI aircraft in order to have the boats?

Windows7, i7 cpu, ATI7700/1GB, 8GB RAM

...hoping,

Most likely the AI package you loaded contains FS9 formatted Flightplans. While FS9 FP's are compatible in FSX they can not coexist with FSX formatted FP's. For whatever reason, FSX defaults to the FS9 FP's if both are present, which means none of your FSX flightplans including boats and ships will appear if even one FS9 FP is loaded in FSX. What you need to do is convert your FS9 Flightplans to FSX format. There are some converter utilities that will scan your installation for FS9 FP's and convert them to FSX format, in the library.

Thanks

Wow, just the insight I need! I did install a Greek ship bgl I downloaded and am not sure about the format of the f/p. I've had no problem with the aircraft so far. I'll remove the recently added ship traffic file and see what happens. Also, what would the name of the scanner be? It sounds highly useful!

Thanks, again!!

Well, I solved the problem! I tried a number of scanners (AITPack, FAS Scanner, FP_FS9_FSX) but had trouble launching and using them. Finally, I uninstalled over 50 AI Aircraft packages, removed the .bgl's from the Scenery/World/Scenery, and, voila!, boat traffic everywhere! I mainly wanted to use GreekAiShips (ferries serving the islands on a regular schedule) and I'm happily watching them depart Piraeus for Milos, Sifnos, and Syros!

Your suggestions led me to sites and fora where I found all sorts of answers.

Now, I'm going to try to load one AIA file at a time and see where the break-point is.

Thanks, again!

I downloaded and installed AIFP and it's the perfect app for identifying and converting FS9 .bgl to FSX. I discovered that most of the WOA packages I downloaded have FS9 .bgl and I converted them to FSX and am wondering now how they'll function with the WOA models. I've also found that removing all the flight .bgl from Scenery/World/Scenery and leaving only the ship .bgl allow me to have all the boats moving. I also installed a pilotable ship to I can interact with the AI boats.
