Gents,

What exactly is NavdataPro by Aerosoft? If I understand correctly does this software do the following, or am I wrong?

(1) It installs the Waypoints, SIDs, STARS into every aircraft so the FMC can use it and follow the flight plan?

(2) If the above case is true, this will work in most aircraft add-ons you install it?

(3) If the above two points are true, this software will work forever; it doesn't expire after 12 months.

(4) Aerosoft may update the software (cycles) now-and-then with real world updates on SIDs, STARS, Waypoints, etc and then you can update it with the new cycle for free?

First things first. Forget about (4), not for free. They offer packages which define how often you can update your data. Updates are from 1211 to 1212 and so on. '12' being the year and the last two digits being the cycle count.

As for the rest. It will supply data to all the addons which currently use the Navigraph data basis. The output format should be the same and, when an addon plane received an update, it may be enhanced in some ways. Not sure about the last point. Maybe their Airbus Ext. makes use of that first.

So your list of addons which should work with the new data supplier (Aerosoft vs. Navigraph) is the same as before. Only the data will differ more or less.

Your (3) point is true. The only downside of running the old data would be that later procedures and descriptions are missing. You can use it like you are using Navigraph data though, so it stays active all the time. Install e.g. the 1211 cycle and use that one for the next two years if you like. Once installed, it only expires in the means that it's not current after some point.

Yes, and also approach procedures. And if you use a flight planner like FSBuild or Flightsim Commander it can update the planner's nav data as well.

This page lists the addons it can update: http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd700!0,6253736260,D11684_1_1

It comes with a program that will attempt to automatically find all the addons it supports and then it updates whichever ones you select.

(3) If the above two points are true, this software will work forever; it doesn't expire after 12 months.

I believe so, the data you installed will not stop working, it just becomes out of date compared to real world data if you don't buy newer cycles.

Not for free. You can buy 1 cycle, or any 4 cycles in a year, or 13 cycles in a year: http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?show700,6253736260. After 1 year, or you download the number of purchased cycle updates, then you need to buy more, or you can just continue to use the old data.

Ahhhh, ok. Thank you, guys. Makes better sense to me now. I may purchase it and install it on my a/c. Since I don't fly sim for a living, I don't see the need to keep updating (and pay for) with every update the merchant comes out with. (like I-phone 1 to I-Phone 12 in a few months) I have been flying my a/c perfectly well for many years now without any issues. I load start my engines, add fuel, load my FMC or CDU, take off fly and let the thing do its thing. When I open my eyes, guess what? I'm in the ditch. jeje Kidding..I auto-land my big guys at my destination. But, I usually do hand flying as well, I would probably say 50/50%.

Thanks again guys!
