October 23, 201213 yr Need some help here. I have followed all the advice in the doc. In dx10 with pmdg ngx i get steady 30 fps in all outside views and about 20-22 in VC. Dx9 I get locked 30 fps everywhere even with better aa set. All my other a/c are faster than the ngx so that is why I use it for testing. There is something specifically slowing it down as even if I pull all the sliders back to mins I still can't. Get 30 fps in the VC. Dave
October 23, 201213 yr I'm not doubting what you see, Dave, but there's something amiss here, as I don't know of any system made that will hold 30fps in DX9 or DX10 everywhere. Even with moderate DX9 settings - flying the LSH Maddog - Seattle will pull frames down - albeit, not into the teens, but to the degree that clouds coverage/density, road, AI/GA and airport traffic must to be compromised, but when using DX10 she will take those same higher settings, losing not more than 4 fps - and even then, merely fluctuating. I guess we need to see the fsx.cfg (attach it here as a fsx.txt file) and a screenshot of NI, Dave: are you still running that proc at 3.4 gig? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 23, 201213 yr Yeah I noticed the same thing on my system, but I'm wondering if it's because I'm running 3 monitors in SLI with surround video. because after following all the directions it default my resolution to something like 3850X720x32 and was flying low and fast over the plains and all seem good, until I noticed the resolution issue. When I changed it to what it's supposed to be (5840X1080x32) FPS dropped to the single digits. I left all changes in placed and unchecked Dx10 preview and it seems back to normal for me. -Ray
October 23, 201213 yr Author I am wondering if it is something specific to my system. I have read and re-read all the posts in this forum. I just tested again. Paul, I do not mean I always get 30 fps in every situation. What I was trying to say was that in several flight situations, I first load in DX9, then in DX10 and in these cases where I am getting 30fps in DX9 with the PMDG NGX it drops to 20-22 in DX-10. I have played around with many NVI settings. I just turned everything (aa) OFF (but checked in-game) including the SGAA and after clicking apply in NVI, i still had no shimmering in DX-10, it didn;t look any different. I think I have got my system working fairly well, just did a low level in the NGX at 250 knots and no blurring, even when changing views, 30 fps and then I loaded the ORBX weather theme #5 and it dropped to about 25 fps. That's in DX-9. For some reason, in DX10, I'm taking a hit. Also, I have the VSync problem back again. Have to see if I can fix it again. Cheers Dave. You need to reboot the system here, to clear any DX9 cache before running FSX in DX10, Dave. You are starting DX10 in a non-clean environment. I have played around with many NVI settings. She's too slow, and needs overclocking, the AA entry needs correcting, and then use one of the original NI settings from here (Med) to control both vsync and AA. October 23, 201213 yr Author Paul, this: Anisotropic=1 Here is part of the trouble, Dave: Antialiasing=1 This should be Anisotropic=1 and AntiAlias=1 is correct. I was in DX9 so copied from fsx.cfg and put in what I thought these were. I did have both aa and af ON in DX10. Procspeed=8 etc. No idea what this is, entered by fsx upon building the new fsx.cfg. I will take out the forcevsync lines but the first one I think cured by non-vsync of yesterday. LOD 4.5 is default for fsx. am doing this: Use 1/2 Refresh Rate and Standard, full screen and 30 locked in FSX Thanks for the help Dave
October 23, 201213 yr Just remembered, after reading this simultaneous post above, Dave - http://forum.avsim.n...d/#entry2501234 Post # 20.. October 24, 201213 yr Author Paul, thanks. I do have disable preload. Anyway, I removed the two force vcsync lines and got better results! I also rebooted before going back into dx10. Flew ngx yvr to Ksea in Rw weather, fps 20 to 25 but very smooth. Thanks for the tip (I always wondered about those force lines due to running 1/2 vsync in nvi) Dave
October 24, 201213 yr Flew ngx yvr to Ksea in Rw weather, fps 20 to 25 but very smooth. Hi Dave! I'm glad it half-worked.. in retrospect, considering the flight area, the hardware, aircraft and weather, 20 to 25 is not too shabby, actually, pretty good, though it depends upon the weather. This is my personal favourite stomping ground. Do you have Jon Patch's Vancouver Plus, or the Orbx PNW and airports, by any chance. I ask, as Vancouver Plus, Orbx's Anacortes, Skagit and night lighting (if turned on during the day) will pull the best pc's down something fierce. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 24, 201213 yr Author Just Vancouver Plus and ORBX PNW demo. By the way, I have something turned on in the bios that boosts the cpu and it's showing around 4.0 GHz Dave
October 24, 201213 yr Aaaah.. That's better, Dave. I'd still push it up some more, though, as it will do 4.6 easily and I've seen some published as high as 5 gig, so - just a recommendation - do a couple of days researching, go in and out of the BIOS a few times, and then try your hand at changing the oc up to 4.2 (I assume on air), with a minor upping of the vCore to ensure stability. FYI - I've had this (water-cooled) i7 2600K up at 5.0 gig as a test, and now running at 4.9gig, for ~ a year or so, with a vCore of 1.385v. Both the i7-950 and the Core2Duo E6600 before it were overclocked, too. Makes a big difference to FSX. pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
