July 16, 200421 yr Can anyone tell me exactly what Weather Maker Enhanced Edition is?Is it another program like ActiveSky?Apparently there is a new version (1.2) but the website site doesn't really say what it is or what it does. I'm assuming this is for FS2004 but it doesn't say that anywhere either. Freeware? Payware? Thanks!
July 17, 200421 yr Hi,Weather Maker Enhanced Edition is not exactly like ActiveSky, it lets you create dynamic weather themes. It is freeware but a payware is to be released sometimes.
July 17, 200421 yr But still lets you download real weather, correct? If so, is it better than what comes with FS2004?
July 17, 200421 yr I gave the software a quick try but I do not recall it downloading real weather....If I'm wrong please someone do correct me.
July 17, 200421 yr I'm afraid I did not play with it long enough to give you a thoroughtful opinion except that it creates weather themes...sorry...But hey it's free so you can try it too !
July 18, 200421 yr I really enjoyed the FS2002 version of this program. However, since then the program has gone downhill and I don't use it.1. It contains spyware. Every time you start the program it needs to connect to their servers and tell them that you started the program.2. I'm on dialup and the whole point of me using this program would be to generate dynamic weather without having to download real weather. Now, I still have to dial up and connect to the Internet otherwise it won't let me start the program. -
July 19, 200421 yr Author Commercial Member Weather Maker Enhanced Edition is a program that lets you generally create Dynamic Weather Scapes for FS2004. It is a change from what Weather Maker Personal Edition was - simply because you can not do in FS2004 as you did in FS2002 in auto-generating weather. FS2004 causes a stuttering that we could not be satisfied with. So you can create these weather scapes and load them into various areas within FS2004 and fly through multiple weather scenarios. Whereas, with the Weather Themes in FS2004 you can only load one and then fly it. WMEE Version 1.2 provides a Weather Scape Builder program to create your own weather scapes. It also has some default versions already provided with it.It does require an internet connection at loading - it isn't spyware - it just validates the application. Since it is a preview version it expires August 1st, we wanted to make sure that it does expire at August 1st. It is just something we are testing with. Weather Maker Professional will be a payware program and we are trying to think of ways to stop privacy of the program. So one of the ways is through this webservice.Weather Maker Professional is completely different in that it will also let you create dynamic weather themes (much different interface though), but also allows you download realtime weather as AS2004. However, this will not be available until late August 2004. Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
July 19, 200421 yr >Weather Maker Professional will be a>payware program and we are trying to think of ways to stop>privacy of the program. So one of the ways is through this>webservice.>Hi,I think you meant to say 'piracy'... not privacy.Correct me if I'm wrong but 'privacy' just didn't seem to fit in that sentence. Especially considering what was said prior to that sentence.Regards,Jim
July 20, 200421 yr The current protection system makes it impossible for me to use the progras since I have to dial up every time I want to start it. I can live with payware that needs to connect when you initially install it, but having to verify each time you start it is just too much. There are still many users on dialup and also quite a few that choose to have a "Sim PC" with no internet connection and use another PC for downloads. -
July 21, 200421 yr Author Commercial Member In regards to the protection system - we are rethinking that process. We have just had too many people bring this issue up.WMEE was a test for a lot of things and we were just trying to see what was possible out there. With WMPRO you will have to be online to download real weather into FS2004, but in making a weather scape you do not. Thanks to everyone in their feedback.Feel free to give us more feedback at: [email protected].
