Virtual cockpit disappeared?

I opened up the overhead panel and somehow after I second mouse click to close the overhead panel my virtual cockpit disappeared???? Even the 2D cockpit disappeared but I was able to get that back any idea on how I can get the virtual cockpit back????

Hit the A key to move forward or Shift+A to move backwards in the panels until the VC shows up. This is the default action.
