November 11, 201213 yr So there is a saying... If it aint broke don't fix it... BUT... I see all these new textures in AS2012 and REX and decide it's time for a cosmetic update... 1) Install new textures (new REX) 2) Load up FSX (in DX10 of course) 3) Red Progessive taxi markings and missing lights 4) Re run the 3.1.1 shader batch file 5) Batch file says "Sorry these are not the originals (HLSL)" 6) Try to install manually... no runways or taxi ways no progressive taxi I'm trying to get A ) DX10 working correctly B )All the fixes applied How do I manually apply the patch if the batch file is saying not original? For the HLSL, should I do a FSX fix from the control panel? Lastly, since things seem so FUBAR, how can I start all over? I'd really like to start it all over so I can document the modifications in case I do feel like seeing something new. (Like smaller cloud foot prints for FPS purposes) Thanks for any help "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
November 11, 201213 yr Hi Cory; You're trying to apply the patch to an HLSL folder that is already patched - so just delete what's there now, and follow below. You must have the original ShadersHLSL folder complete, under the normal FSX root folder. If you don't have that - get it here, and just drop it in. If you want a ready-patched ShadersHLSL folder - get it here. Once you have that in place - go to the shaders cache folder (should be your:- C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\ folder ) and delete the "Shaders10 folder. Next - start the sim. You can darken the water, and fix the rain, and that is described in the "How-To" doc. OK? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the quick response. I put in your patched files and I have red progressive taxi. I'm going to be using more VATSIM more but I would like to have the correct textures. I'm going to: 1) Apply the rain fix 2) Light fix 3) the texture fix (for missing textures) If you have any more ideas on the red arrows for Progressive, please let me know and thank you for your help. November 11, 201213 yr NP, Cory! Steve suggests in this blog:- http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2012/06/14/progressive-taxi/ that this is a texture issue.. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 11, 201213 yr Author Got it and thanks.. One last thing, I noticed in that replay there was some code at the bottom. Is that already in the patch? I tried to find where to copy and paste it to but was unable. If it can't be fixed ill make due with the red. I should be flowing the signs anyway. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
November 11, 201213 yr Yep. The Progressive Taxi fix was an early fix, and was in the first patch. What you saw there were the other fixes. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 11, 201213 yr Author Ok thanks for the help. I think DX10 is awesome and I'll think twice about updating textures next time! "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
