November 12, 201213 yr I have a great repaint for the PMDG 747 that was made for FS9 and I'm trying to bring it over to FSX. To get a proper night lighting I have to put the correct alpha channel in the FS9 repaint. But when I copy over an alpha from another made for FSX repaint using DXTbmp, it becomes much more pixalated. Why is that? Both are DXT5 dds files. Can someone tell me how I can copy over the correct alpha so the landing and tail lights work properly on the converted fs9 repaint? Thanks! -David
November 13, 201213 yr The problem could lie with the size of the alpha. Fs9 only allows 1024 textures, while fsx can do larger. Check the size of the textures first. I suggest opening the fsx texture, saving tha alpha as a separate bitmap, resize it if necessary, and then import it into the fs9 texture, always using dxtbmp. I have done this often, and it should work, as long as they are the same size.. All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2
