July 19, 200421 yr Something that has always intrigued me.In real life, when a prop-driven aircraft is put into a dive, the engine note starts to rise as the revs increase. It is a very distinctive sound but I don't think I have ever noticed this in FS. If this is emulated it is not very obvious or is possibly limited by the way sound files are processed in the simulator. John
July 19, 200421 yr Well I have noticed *wind* noise increasing in a dive in MSFS so I dont know why they wouldnt do it for engine noise (although I have to say I havent yet dived the Cessna 172 hee hee)If you select the glider and dive it down you can hear the wind noise increasing....
July 19, 200421 yr Yes, but I am not referring to wind noise. This is the sound I mean......http://www.degiorgio.net/diver.wav John
July 19, 200421 yr HiJust replace the wind sound entry in the sound.cfg with this[WIND_SOUND]filename=propscream.wavminimum_volume=6500maximum_volume=12000minimum_rate=1.10maximum_rate=2.60minimum_speed=300.0 // <-set this to about 20% below max maximum_speed=420.0 //<-set this to max speed of aircrafthere is a link to the sound file:) just drop this in the fs9/sound folder or the fs9/aircraft/sound folderhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~au_mav/propscream.zipMaV
July 19, 200421 yr Thanks for that MaV.It works quite well as far as the sound is concerned.Unfortunately the engine RPM does not reflect the high revs suggested by the new sound.Too much to ask of the sim I suppose. John
July 20, 200421 yr Hi JohnThere are two different real life prop-driven aircraft types. These with fix pitch prop
