  1. Be careful. I triied looking for Adobe Traffic Pack recently, to see if there was an update and was sent to some very dodgy sites. Malware, trojans galore.!!
  2. My old Adobe Traffic Pack does a good job here.
  3. Not sure about those settings. Maybe someone could enlighten us.
  4. Hello George. Still a few FS9 diehards around. When I upgraded my computer a couple of years back, it came loaded with Windows 8. I originally thought it would be a good time to move to FSX, but after considering the time and effort I had spent on FS9 (aircraft, scenery, etc.), I too decided to stick with it. Wasn't easy in Windows 8, but well worth the effort. Some of my favorite aircraft are the complex Russian airliners and I was happy to find that they loaded in witout a problem. Yes, still a lot of add-ons available and I never cease to be amazed by FS9's capability. I installed some old FlyTampa scenery yesterday, and altough I don't do much flying in the US, I'd forgotten how good they looked. Tampa, Florida KTPA
  5. I can't believe I joined this forum 13 years ago! Good to see you too. Still a few of the old gang here. My new avatar shows me with my old 500 (1973). The photo is recent as I had an unexpected visit from the present owner (I sold it to him in 2006). He just turned up to show me it was still going strong and practically unchanged. Good to know. I like the new models very much and was thinking of getting the air-cool engine model. Anyway, nice chatting and take care, John
  6. Well, I gave up in the end. I managed to find a much more detailed UUWW VNUKOVO (Moscow) Aeroflot hub however. Easy manual install and works well. Thank you for your help. For anyone who's interested, link is: http://www.avsimrus.com/files.phtml?action=download&id=56187
  7. Thanks. It is just the UUWW scenery that presents this problem. I had loaded the scenery manually so I'm sure no default textures were overwritten. it is a rather old version of UUWW. For some reason, the newer versions would not load in properly. I'm running Windows 8, by the way, and have loaded numerous complex scenery without any problem.
  8. I just re-installed my Vnukovo (UUWW) scenery and I am getting what looks like helicopter pads on all my parking areas, Any idea what texture is responsible and how I can remove them? Thank you.
  9. I tried searching. What is the default directory for flights(situations) in Windows 8 please? Thanks.
  10. Looks like the problem was caused (I think) by some mesh which was included in the airport I was trying to install. In the end, I downloaded some old mesh covering the whole of Spain and it fixed the problem. It's two in the morning here and I'm tired, but I'm very glad it worked.
  11. Tried moving an airport from my old computer to my new one. I have done this many times with no problems. When I tried to go to the airport, I found the problem shown in the photo below. I uninstalled the airport from FS and deleted the airport from Addon Scenery, expecting the default to show up. It still shows the same problem which extends for hundreds of miles in all directions. I have a heavy FS installation which took me months to set up so I don't really want to reinstall FS. I would be very grateful for any ideas as to what the problem is and how I can return to the default situation. Many thanks
  12. Hi Ryan, PMDG's 747-499 installed with no problems on Windows 8. Aircraft installed successfully so far are: Tupolev Tu-154-B2 (Project Tupolev) Tupolev 154-M (Project Tupolev) Ilyushin Il-62M (Project Tupolev) Tupolev Tu-134 (SCS) Airbus (Feelthere PIC Series 1 and 2) Boeing 737 (Feelthere PIC) Sud Aviation Caravelle III (AVG) Lockheed 1011 Tristar (Aerosoft) Vickers Super VC-10 (David Maltby) Boeing 737-200 (TinMouse)
  13. Hi ja99 and Dillon. If you RIGHT click on the main FS9 folder, hit properties and then the Security tab. Make sure all the boxes are ticked under all the categories. Use the Edit button to make your changes. Dell and HP carry a premium price here in Switzerland. I paid less than half of what they charge for a similar spec machine (see my signature). From what I've read on the Web, Windows 8 is a superior operating system (to Windows 7) once you bypass the Metro part of it. Faster and with a much smaller footprint in terms of resource requirements..
  14. Greetings from sunny Switzerland. Picked up a new machine two weeks ago. I had previously been running FS2004 on an old Dell XPS for nine years with Windows XP Pro. My FS installation was huge and I dreaded the though of it dying on me and having to start from scratch. Anyway, the new beast came loaded with Windows 8 so I stated to plan the "transfer" of Fs2004. First thing I did was install FS2004 from the original disks (yes, I found them). No problem there. I even let it install in the Program Files (x86) directory. I then gave the FS directory full access and security rights. Important this. Rather than reinstall each add-on aircraft and scenery, I then decided to copy all my Gauges, Effects and Mesh/Landclass directories to the new Windows 8 installation. A large capacity USB drive is essential for this exercise. Since I had literally hundreds of aircraft in my old installation, I also decided to limit the number of aircraft in the new system to those I flew the most. Simple aircraft can be copied straight across to the Aircraft directory (don't need to worry about Gauges and Effects as they are already in place). I started with Project Tupolev's wonderful Tu-154. The installer would not work in W8, so I just copied the files across. Important to include the developers' folders in the new FS9 root directory. It flies beautifully in W8. Good Start. Other aircraft like the Ilyushin Il-62, Feelthere's Airbus and 737 also installed successfully as did the older 727-200, 737-200, AFG's Caravelle III etc. Add-on scenery also copies across, although some, like FlyTampa and Aerosoft loaded in successfully using the makers' installers. I also have the blank picture for the loading screen, but I can certainly live with that. FS2004 running on a fast quad core i7 is a joy to behold. Smooth and very high frame rates with all sliders maxed out. It will be a long process but at least I will be able to continue flying if my old computer dies on me.
  15. Thank you guys. Yes David. Thanks for the pic. I'm afraid my age is beginning to show. I assumed these were the Nav radio settings. :excl: Cheers,
  16. Thanks. But those are the manual Nav radios. It's the Com radios I'm looking for.
  17. OK. I haven't been flying for a few months now due to health reasons. I decided to fly the Wilco PIC Airbus today. It all came back except for one silly problem. I just can't seem to find where to set my Com radio frequency. Radio panel shows Nav radios for manual settings. FMC has a Nav radio page. Grateful for any help.
  18. Strange one this.Even with everything completely shut down after a flight, I am still getting a fairly loud sound, almost like an APU.I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and has managed to fix it.Thanks,
  19. I'm sorry but I am still flying it in FS9. Remember, you have to click the red button with the RIGHT mouse button to activate the save function.
  20. Released last week, Steffen.
  21. Apologies if this is old news, but it is just too good to miss.http://files.protu-154.net/pt-154b2_fsx.html
  22. Hadn't seen this scenery before. Very nicely done by Matthew Ministry, Richard Reed and Richard Faith.I have some small white houses which I would like to get rid of.Any ideas please?
  23. Hi Dave. Had to sell the 500 I'm afraid. Rust had started to become a serious problem. It went to a young Italian mechanic who said he could sort out the rust, so I'm glad it went to a good home. :( Back on topic ......if you "walk" down the passenger cabin on the Il-18, right back to the tail, you'll find the VIP section!
