fs2002/fs2004

Featured Replies

Second posting? Anyone know how to get the ac. in fs2002.to work in fs2004.?Thanks

If they are made on FSDS they simply won't work correctly (animated parts don't show up or they don't animate).

>If they are made on FSDS they simply won't work correctly>(animated parts don't show up or they don't animate)........ Those made with FSDS2 or Gmax should be OK in FS2004 but this is a very general rule and there ARE exceptions.

:-shy Thanks for your reply,I think I should refrase my question. Can you use the DEFAULT aircraft from fs2002,in fs 2004?.

Hi,Yes, you should be able to, but I'm not sure that all the default FS2002 aircraft work ok in FS2004.There are a couple of default aircraft from FS2002 that have been packaged up for FS2004 and are in the file library, such as the Cessna 182RG(c182rg) and the F4U-1A Corsair(f4u1a_corsair). There are actually a number of freeware FS2004 aircrafts that depend on having the F4U-1A Corsair sound and gauge installed into FS2004. Other than these two I think most of the default FS2002 aircraft are already in FS2004.The thing is if that you are just wanting to copy default FS2002 aircraft straight over from the FS2002 Aircraft folder to the FS2004 Aircraft folder then you might miss something. Such as the gauge(s) needed for it in the main 'Gauges' folder. And if the aircraft already exists in FS2004 and you are just wanting to get your repaints installed for them into FS2004 then I would recommend you just copy over the 'texture.xxx' folders and then open up the FS2002 aircraft.cfg file and highlight all the '{fltsim.XX}' sections that are for the texture.xxx repaints, and then paste those {fltsim.XX} sections into the FS2004 aircraft.cfg file for that aircraft. That way you don't overwrite the sound.cfg, panel.cfg, and the FS2004 flight dynamics(aircraft.cfg and .air files). This might not work for ALL aircrafts. For instance I don't think Lear 45 repaints from FS2002 will work in FS2004 because I think Microsoft changed the 'model'(.mdl file) for the Lear in FS2004.Perhaps it would be good to hear just what default FS2002 Aircraft(s) you are wanting to get into FS2004. And I'm really not sure that they will all work ok in FS2004. Maybe though.Hope that helps,Jim

Thanks Jim, for your reply. We have a few grass strips local to town,I use to fly the " SOPWITH CAMEL" in fs 2002.Now it is not part of fs2004.I copied it into fs2004, but the model does not show right thanks for you help.

Hello pimwa,Hmmm. Well, I suppose it could be that MS didn't include that aircraft in FS2004 because they didn't update it and it has the problem that you described. But that does seem a little strange to me. I am surprised that the model wouldn't show up correctly. What wouldn't surprise me though concerning that particular aircraft is if the flight dynamics for it didn't work properly in FS2004.Regards,Jim
