No ATC with XP Home!

Featured Replies

After having used a troublesome Win ME for almost 3 years, I now have got Win XP Home installed. A big difference! Every game install and is played smoother than before, even FS 2004!But: I can hear all sounds in FS but the ATC! I seems as if XP is trying to read the USEnglishBig.GVP file, but no sound is heard! (Even the old Win ME didn

Works OK here with XP home. I don't normally use FS ATC as I fly mostly online ..... but turned it on - it worked straight away. I don't know what sound system you have . Here is AC97 o/b sound on a KT6V board. Check in the volume controls that "Wave " is not turned right down but other than that no idea.Dave

I have a Sound Blaster PCI. The XP installed a driver from 2002 causing no problems so far. However, I found a later driver which is also OK with every sound file in every game. But the ATC is still silent! Thanks for your effort!Haraldh

Don't know if this will help - but if your motherboard is equipped with onboard sound check that it is disabled in the BIOS.Dave

Check that you actually have voices allocated to ATC in the FS Menu options. Also that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player installed.Allcott

Also check the volume of all the sounds in FS. You can set volume levels for each different sound, and you could have the ATC voice down to zero.
