July 22, 200421 yr Anyone else have any trouble with this ac? When I try to change to another ac the sim crashes to desk top..JamesJ
July 22, 200421 yr Can you be more specific? Where did you get the Extra 400, and what sim are you trying to use it with?-John
July 22, 200421 yr The 2002 version or the 2004 version for FS? and wich version of FS?I'd first try loading it up with out the panel.cfg if the problem then goes away your looking at a gauge problem.
July 23, 200421 yr It's fs2004_extra.zip I believe and it came from AVSIM library. I tried loading it without panel cfg. as Grey Wolf suggested, and no problem switching to another ac, so it evidently is a gauge...which gauge? Anyone have any ideas? JamesJ
July 23, 200421 yr It doesn't work because you didn't install FSSound.dll. Put the gauge files(*.gau) into the FS2004 Gauges Directory. Put the sound files (*.wav) into the FS2004 Sounds directory. Put FSSound.dll into the FS2004 Modules directory. This module is required for the panel to work. Unfortunately, there is not yet an FS2004 specific version of this module. This means that you have to include this statement in your fs9.cfg file: (OLDMODULES) (Use brackets here. Parens are used because the forum software doesn't recognize brackets)FSound.dll=1 The fs9.cfg file will be located in your personal Application Data folder. On Windows 2000/XP systems, this is located in Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9FS9.cfg (for Windows 9x users the path is WindowsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9fs9.cfg). The Application Data folder is hidden, so you will need to enable viewing of hidden files/folders under the Folder Options in your Explorer. Michael VerlinHistoric Jetliners Group
July 23, 200421 yr You can find out (although it will take a bit of time). In the panel.cfg, comment out all the gauges one by one by preceding them with a //Then, uncomment the gauges one at a time, reloading the aircraft and switching, until you find the gauge. You could also try the "shotgun" method--comment out half the gauges, then the other half, etc..., to narrow down the troublesome gauge...-John
July 23, 200421 yr I don't think that is it unless it needs this particular fssound.dll, I already have a file of that name installed and the mod to fd9.cfg. There wouldn't be a difference, would there? I'll try JohnCi's procedure and get back..JamesJ
July 23, 200421 yr I am the author of that panel. The gauges incorporated in the panel REQUIRE the presence of FSSound.dll in order for it to work. There is no FS2004 specific version of that module, hence the requirement for the OLDMODULES statement in the fs9.cfg file. All of this information is included in the installation instructions I placed in the Zip package along with a copy of the module. I know this panel works when used in accordance with the directions.Michael VerlinHistoric Jetliners Group
July 23, 200421 yr "I know this panel works when used in accordance with the directions."I noted your response about fssound.dll right after my post... I agree it's a problem if the directions haven't been followed...-John
July 23, 200421 yr You need to make use of the FSSound.dll that comes with the aircraft. I had a newer version set up but the the code would not work with it, causing a CTD. I renamed my original newer version and copied the one in the download to my modules folder and then all worked just fine. This is a nice, stable airplane but getting it to slow down for a landing can be really hairy, even with full flaps.Larry S.
July 23, 200421 yr Hi Michael:I too am having trouble with the 400 panel. When I load and CTD occurs I get there errors; AppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.30612 ModName: fssound.dllModVer: 1.5.0.2 Offset: 00001653and reasonC:DOCUME~1LarryLOCALS~1TempWER1BDF.tmp.dir00appcompat.txtI placed your sound dill in mouule foldes as required.Whan I open the panel in FSPS I get below.Maybe you can help me with this problemThanks Larry Womble
July 23, 200421 yr Have you placed the necessary OLDMODULES statement in your fs9.cfg file?We have used the same procedure for our DC-8 panels without problems for several years.Check the README file that came with the package. Install instructions are in there.Michael VerlinHistoric Jetliners Group
July 23, 200421 yr This is from your read me Unfortunately, there is not yet an FS2004 specific version of this module. This means that you have to include this statement in your fs9.cfg file: [OLDMODULES] FSound.dll=1 -----------dill you supplied named FSSound.dll The fs9.cfg file will be located in your personal Application Data folder. On Windows 2000/XP systems, this is located in Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9FS9.cfg (for Windowthis in my cfg entry[oldmodules]fssound.dll=1ADF2MOD.dll=1SimSound.dll=1where am i wrongshould it be named FSound.dll ??I assumed your read me entry of FSound was a typo.If not I will name it same.Larry
July 23, 200421 yr The statement should reads as follows:{OLDMODULES}fssound.dll=1Use Brackets (which the forum software here does not display)Michael VerlinHistoric Jetliners Group
