November 19, 201213 yr Hey guys as you know I'm not a real Pilot at all but I'm willing to learn I've been flying all types of Airbus's sometimes i can perform a good landing and sometimes well I cant lol im tired of guessing, making long haul trips and not knowing if im going to to make a successful landing, especially when I'm making a trip for a virtual airline. I need to no what exactly does the FMC or MCDU does I'm not sure exactly how to use it because I haven't experimented with it yet but a lot of pilot on VATSIM and simmers tell me that it does alot and most definitely can aid me on making accurate adjustments to perform a great landings So without the all of the technical terms what exactly does the FMC do? does it adjust your altitude accordingly when planning a decent or does IT just alert you and you and you have to adjust it manually, can it perform a complete ILS approach with the correct aircraft's information l is it really that helpful, and will it help me with my situation? Just today I performed a trip for Jet blue airlines 3 hours from KMCO to TJSJ when reaching my destination at about 20nm I started descending when I was about 10nm and at about 2000 feet and about 160 knots the plane was descending just fine then all of a sudden at about 1000 feet with my flaps set the plane at about 140 knots had touchdown but when i applied the reverse thrust the plane would not stop kept on going I applied the brakes still did not stop autopilot was off nothing was on I will be practicing using this http://www.equicom.net/mcdu/
November 19, 201213 yr Author wow I went to link I've posted above and knowing nothing about the and MCDU By going to this link i learned a lot. This is an actual MCDUEMULATOR in the allows you to get firsthand, hands on training, and step by step instructions on how to use the MCDU and it helped me a lot I recommend the Los who are like me and have no experience whatsoever to go to this link and tried this out http://www.equicom.net/mcdu/#next I guess the only question i have now is (just to be certain) should i ajust my speed and altitude according to the picture below manualy as i reach each way-point or does the MCDU does this ?
November 19, 201213 yr Hi every aspect of your flight will be calculated and delivered to you by the MCDU (as in airbus), or FMC, or FMS and such. your aircraft payload, routes (your waypoints), fuel prediction, vertical and horizontal navigation, flap setting, speed profiles... wikipedia, smartcockpit and perhaps Pprune would be great starts to dig in. What airbus add on are you currently flying?

November 19, 201213 yr Hi Garciamk4 (still no real name in your post :-) Have you disengaged autothrottle before landing ? A serious reading of the manual of Wilco and practicing of tutorials would be necessary ! First you can't slow down your Airbus (by the way, TOD is certainly far from 20 nm from the airport for a standard FL300) and the tweak : " Once in the file find the folder '1101 Primary Aerodynamics'. Look for '*CD_ds Drag Coefficient - Spoiler=', I have mine set to 387." given par Dillon in http://forum.avsim.net/topic/391213-plane-refuses-to-slowdown-on-approach/ gives your Airbus a Mig 29 characteristic ! An Airbus is NOT a fighter, useful tweaks for .air file was given by Fred Nikles in : http://www.deltava.org/http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x1945c Happy Flyings Pierre Pierre LFBE
