Can my computer handle fsx

Featured Replies

new to flight sim, wondering if my toshiba satellite L755 can use fsx and still have decent graphics? It has the i3 intel core and the hd family graphics family.

You should be able to run it, but FSX is CPU intensive, so its likely you could run it with everything cranked down to medium or minimum..

You could also lower the screen resolution of FSX to something liek 1024 x 768 to help... As its a laptop too, it will have thermal cut-out enabled too, so you could disable that in the BIOS if it lets you and get one of those laptop cooling trays to put it on and make sure its kept clean inside via a can of compressed air.

I tried FSX on my Dell Latitude E6500 which is a Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz with Nvidea Quadro NVS160 and it ran just fine using the F18, but hit 10FPS when flying near the ground at speed with no add-ons installed, running a projector at 1024 x 768, so your CPU is newer than mine, so it should be OK so long as you don't ask too much of it. NON-SSD load times might take a while though on a 2.5" hard drive as they are slower (5200rpm) than normal desktop hard drives (7200rpm+) but if your patient, and go over Word Not Allowed's guide, it should be playable, so long as you dont throw any PMDG aircraft at it..

oh, and take the battery OUT when doing it, because charging whilst using it creates a LOT of unnecessary heat that slows everything down and will kill your battery, and eventually your laptop :-)
