  1. Re-read what I wrote, I did say what file to do it with. No need to shoot me down mate, was just offering up a nice simple option that doesn't require the use of a mouse, so you can still use your hat switch or whatever you use when panning around normally. Also, the "View track/pan" also does not seem to be enabled by default when I installed P3D v3.2, so rather than having to go configure yet another button, then remember how to turn it on and off, this method simply requires zero brain power to use it :-) Simple is great right, especially when there is already enough problems to worry about with a flight sim.. I have 28 USB modules running on my sim, so the last thing I need to mess about with is yet another button combo, and I control all my views and panning from the yoke, I barely need to touch the mouse or keyboard at all once my flight sim is loaded..
  2. I know this is a MEGA old thread, but it still applies today to FSX and now all P3D versions.. Just open the "cameras.CFG" file.. [CameraDefinition.007] Title = Nearest Tower Change Track to None so it looks like this: Track = None Its the tracking of your own aircraft that stops the ability to pan. Save and close, job done. Now load your sim, go to tower view and pan around till you get giddy :-)
  3. Trying to use ANY tablet with FSX over air-display will do this, due to the way FSX works. The only option is to run windowed mode, and make sure "pause on task switch" is not ticked, and thats as good as it gets using air-display. I switched to using EFB on a second PC instead and its soo much better, and now doesnt affect frames at all, not 1 bit :-) Still, you can then use your ipad for Virtual CDU, which is totally awesome!
  4. Thanks Guys :-) My hardware is in my profile, <== lick where it says "My PC" it is by no means a slouch, steaming along at 4.67gHz off 2 SSD's. Such a shame that these "mega airports" are done so badly... The night lighting for example on all of these mega airports seem to be abismal, yet go checkout LHSimulations new Budapest LHBP!! WOW.. Excellent of frames, detail, landscape, high traffic, night lighting, everything about it is just spectacular, and is 20euro.. I cant really accept that LFPO is bad on frames due to proximity of other airports, as its only the LFPO airport I purchased and installed, so my sim is not trying to load any other nearby payware airports at all, this was the first one I bought for france... I notice too, that once I start firing up the NGX, it causes the sim to OOM and CTD before I can even start the engines, its that bad! Might have to write to aerosoft and ask for a refund as its unusable if I cant land there or take off from there at all. Trying to land there causes a CTD as soon as I'm close enough for the sim to start loading that scenery. Such a shame too, a massive, massive shame thats its so bad it actually is unflyable..
  5. Hi Guys Serious apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I have been searching high and low and cannot find anything about this airport at all for FSX, that relates to the problems I am having with it. Does anybody else have this Mega Airport installed at all? Q1. Does yours look anything like the demo video on the Aerosoft website? Mine has huge horrible lighting on the runways, big star shaped airport lights on the taxiways and anywhere a light should be, the lighting is just plain dreadful, but it looks nothing like the video of the airport on their website.. Q2. Frame rates with this airport just seem to be through the floor.. VC in the NGX is 13fps, Spot view from outside cant seem to get above 15fps at max zoom out, its just a blooming slide show, and a really ugly one too.. Anybody else finding this? I have yet to see anything in this airport at all that makes me go "wow"... The video of it on the aerosoft site looks "wow", but the real thing is just "arghhhh"...
  6. lol, my bad, I just seen the patch released on their site a few days ago.. DOH! Removes foot from mouth whilst downloading it..
  7. Hiya Charles You say you are using FTX Global v1.2? Is that some sort of beta or special release as I just bought FTX Global a few days ago and only have what seems to be the latest release of v1.10?
  8. I also have the VirtualCDU and its just soooooo awesome! Extremely responsive too, quicker than the on-screen CDU
  9. Turn down your LOD... Mine is at 3.5 instead of the standard 4.5 and its silky smooth all the way... You also didnt say what scenery your using too, as I have found some scenery can be a pig, and some can be sweet.
  10. Hi Barra This isnt an FSUIPC problem, mine does that too on EVERY fresh install of FSX, so you can just delete the assignments within FSX and re-assign the toe brakes and it should then be fine :-)
  11. First thing I do prior to installing FSX now is to change my desktop scheme to windows basic. Dont need all that "fluff" anyway
  12. Nope. My GoFlight radio panels do the same thing too, they all come on, when the NGX is loaded cold and dark.. Its kind of part of simming, as FSX cant enable/disable your controls according to what the aircraft is doing.. P3D and X-Plane are the same too... Its not a Saitek thing, just a "Do you want your controls enabled or not" within windows, thing.. Even now, with no sims running, my radio panels are all on, showing 000.000 on the frequencies.. None of the flight sim panels seem to have the ability to "appear off" when your aircraft is cold/dark/off.

Take the tutorial built into GSX on "Taxiing". Go through it, and things will be much clearer. Open FSX, go to learning centre and in the tutorials is one for taxiing...
  14. I agree Matthew, a yoke gives better control with "either hand" whereas a stick is one handed only, so can be akward if you need to switch hands.. The warthog stick is seriously awesome, in more ways than I can ever describe, and I so much wanted to "stick" at it [PUN ALERT] but I often found that when holding the stick, I had a tendancy to lean on it ever so slightly without realising, which is difficult to notice, but with the yoke, you cant "not notice" as the slightest movement is very noticable. I'm keeping the warthog stick though for when I can try out the Airbus Xtended..
  15. I tried the NGX using the warthog joystick and it just felt sooo wrong... I went right back to a yoke, and got the GF 737 Yoke... Soo much better than any stick.. Still kept the warthog stick, as might wel use that for the Airbus Xtended..
  16. I may be very wrong here, but when I did something similar in the PMDG tutorial #1, it said to set both NAV1 AND NAV2, to the ILS frequency.. Does yours say that at all?

I noticed this just the other night, staring up at the full moon in the sky, that the moon itself was incredibly bright to look straight at it, everything else in the night sky remained incredibly dark, given that this thing was borderline blinding to look at for too long. Still, the empty night sky and all of its infinate darkness just absorbs all light, thus the night sky remains dark, and unlit. Looking at the light on your clouds and aircraft, thats pretty much spot on the same amount of light I had in my back garden, on that clear, cloudless full moonlit night, so I'd say it was spot on :-)
  18. Its not making the flightplans on its own, it uses data from FSX and navigraph cycles. EFB feeds directly from FSX, and is updated via the navigraph cycles. It creates the flight plan using that data, and does it all within the app, so you dont have to use other websites. I guess you could say, its using FSX as the third party application to get its info, along with the navigraph data?
  19. Howard, personally, I think for this price point (up to $500) they are all going to be clunky plastic in feel and build I'm afraid. Still, at least the GF one works perfectly with the NGX.. Like I said, cant complain about the hardware, seems all ok.. I do get support from GF, dont get me wrong, but its often a bit "huh?" and as said, manuals, forget it, there are no manuals, but all my kit works as it should.. Combine that with the CDU for ipad and life is good. But yes, GF really seem lazy. Like they are not bothered about pushing for excellence, they seem happy to settle for "Its ok" and rest easy. Like when I got the GF Yoke, I was frankly very annoyed to find it has a thumbstick that works your PC's mouse of all things! What a waste, who the heck has, needs or wants a damn mouse on the yoke, and a highly oversensitive one at that.. It's unusable to say the least. If I did it again, I would go for the CPFlight one http://www.cpflight.com/sito/dettagli/mcp737pro.asp I have used this one on a full size static 737 sim and the buttons and dials feel soo much better. ufly737 in west london have it..
  20. Hiya Howard I recently got the GoFlight MCP Pro.. Seems fine, although I havent got a damn clue about flying the NGX, am still at the "I can get from A to B in it without breaking anything" but dont ask me what all the alarms mean that keep going off.. I can work the MCP just fine, program the FMC ok'ish, start it from cold/dark in the right order etc, and so far, the MCP works, but ONLY because I'm using the Pollypot software "GoFlight PMDG Interface" I dont even touch the GFConfig" software, its a real pile-o-shite, and doesnt work with the NGX at all... It really makes you think "Yeah, right, I'm going to spend all this cash on an MCP Pro, so I can use it with the FSX default aircraft"... GF are really slackers.... C'mon GF, what the heck were you thinking, seriously, we all want to use the MCP with the default aircraft? Wakey wakey..... Can we get some effort over here? Hardware is good, but as a company, they come across to me to be lazy as hell... There website is missing any manuals for the hardware, absolutely NONE that I can find, and I have been looking... For the price of their hardware, I really did expect so much better than this. Everything has been "Figure it out yourself", but luckily, with the pollypot software, its been a breeze, heck its better than FSUIPC for assigning controls to FSX with GF hardware.. If you do get one, make sure it has the latest firmware A25 on it.. I got mine used on eBay and it has A22, which I'm told is 2+ years ago, but it seems to work ok, and I'm using 22 GF USB devices via simconnect, all programmed via the pollypot GF Interface.. I loaned the Warthog to the Air Cadets, and switched to a GF Yoke.. But yeah, check out the websites, look for documentation and see which of the 2 keep their house in order better.. GF certainly dont seem to.. I've been half impressed, half dissapointed with them.. Good hardware, terrible software and ZERO effort for docs and being forward with information on their website. I asked them if I could get a little help on the costs if I spent over $2000 with them and was hung up on twice on the phone, then told "no" by email, and a few days later they were advertising 30% discounts at oshkosh!! Thanks GF...
  21. Hiya Arjen I use TrackIR, but am still a bit new to it, but what I can tell you is, I use the track clip pro, and boy is it fragile... My first one broke really easily, so my second one, I set its position, then superglued it in place with a LOT of superglue, then wrapped the arm in heavy duty duct tape to re-enforce it severely. If you do get the track clip pro, make sure you strengthen the heck out of it.. Frame rates, I havent seen any loss in frame rates when using it at all... As far as I can tell, its simply an alternative input method to tell FSX where to look, same as your hat switch, only more fluid and of course, following your head. You will need 3 buttons spare to use it for "Centre / Pause / Precision"

It was answered here... Anyway, glad you got it sorted, and good luck setting up Ezdok... I dont use it as I just use the standard FSX views and either my hat switch or TrackIR or both together..
  23. RCITGuy replied to a post in a topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
There is already a "look left" hotkey within FSX, so you can just use that, but I dont think you can store eye-point views at all. We know what your asking, its clear to us, and has already been answered, you cannot create and store custom views within FSX to assign to hotkeys. Something like eZdok looks like it can do this... Thats an addon for FSX.
  24. Nope, not doing that at all, I load up the EFB Display unit, and go to "Route setup" from the top, and just input the from/to airports, then once those are in, go to "modify" to input the SID/Approach/STAR etc and thats it, all within the program itself. It never goes to any online websites, it does it all from within the app itself, using data right from within FSX and its navigraph cycle data. Already well aware I could go to those websites for free if need be, by why bother if EFB already does it for me, and uses the data from FSX and the Navigraph cycle.. more chance of things matching the flight sim... Like I said already, twice now, EFB IS Creating the flight plan, it does NOT go to external websites at all. It can if you want it to, by importing flight plans from online sites, but I dont use that at all, I dont need to, it creates the flight plan itself, right within EFB. If thats not a flight plan, then I clearly have a lot more to learn, which I'm sure I will get to at some point, as I said already, I'm far from an ace NGX driver, I'm still learning the ropes, so for me, its awesome, it keeps things simple, but at NO point does it require me to reference any websites at all.. I dont click on VAT Route, nor route finder. I do have vRoute premium if I want to go look up routes, but rarely use it at the moment whilst learning. Like you say though, EFB is great, and I'm sure PFPX is 10x more "realistic" which may be where the 2 differ. 1 may be more "sim friendly" and the other may be more "Realistic pilot friendly" I'm sure there will be a lot missing from EFB that those seeking realism might want, thus PFPX may be the choice for them, depends what you want from your simming I suppose..
  25. RCITGuy replied to a post in a topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Sure mate... All you need to do is go into the "Controls" section of FSX from the main screen and within the buttons/keys page, assign whichever buttons/keys you want to the views it has listed in that menu. So under "FSX > Settings > Buttons/Keys" > select "views" from the "Event category" dropdown menu and you should see all the existing views, and the keys already assigned to them. You can change these just by double clicking any of them and pressing your new chosen key/button/combo.. I hope that helps mate?
