October 20, 201312 yr Hiya Howard I recently got the GoFlight MCP Pro.. Seems fine, although I havent got a damn clue about flying the NGX, am still at the "I can get from A to B in it without breaking anything" but dont ask me what all the alarms mean that keep going off.. I can work the MCP just fine, program the FMC ok'ish, start it from cold/dark in the right order etc, and so far, the MCP works, but ONLY because I'm using the Pollypot software "GoFlight PMDG Interface" I dont even touch the GFConfig" software, its a real pile-o-shite, and doesnt work with the NGX at all... It really makes you think "Yeah, right, I'm going to spend all this cash on an MCP Pro, so I can use it with the FSX default aircraft"... GF are really slackers.... C'mon GF, what the heck were you thinking, seriously, we all want to use the MCP with the default aircraft? Wakey wakey..... Can we get some effort over here? Hardware is good, but as a company, they come across to me to be lazy as hell... There website is missing any manuals for the hardware, absolutely NONE that I can find, and I have been looking... For the price of their hardware, I really did expect so much better than this. Everything has been "Figure it out yourself", but luckily, with the pollypot software, its been a breeze, heck its better than FSUIPC for assigning controls to FSX with GF hardware.. If you do get one, make sure it has the latest firmware A25 on it.. I got mine used on eBay and it has A22, which I'm told is 2+ years ago, but it seems to work ok, and I'm using 22 GF USB devices via simconnect, all programmed via the pollypot GF Interface.. I loaned the Warthog to the Air Cadets, and switched to a GF Yoke.. But yeah, check out the websites, look for documentation and see which of the 2 keep their house in order better.. GF certainly dont seem to.. I've been half impressed, half dissapointed with them.. Good hardware, terrible software and ZERO effort for docs and being forward with information on their website. I asked them if I could get a little help on the costs if I spent over $2000 with them and was hung up on twice on the phone, then told "no" by email, and a few days later they were advertising 30% discounts at oshkosh!! Thanks GF... Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
October 20, 201312 yr Howard just a thought but if you get FS2crew you wont need to spend a dime on hardware as you can command just about everything. ZORAN

Thanks GF... Hi Richard, sadly your experience with GF has more or less confirmed my own limited experience. After seeing Word Not Allowed's video review, I felt the MCP was very plasticky, with the buttons not sounding at all authentic when clicked. A simming buddy saw one at the recent Cosford sim day and he confirmed my thoughts. A shame about the after sales. I'm done with handing over my hard earned cash to companies who can't be bothered with good support. I've had my belly full of VRinsight and so they will no longer be a player in any future sim build. It sounds like Opencockpits may be the only other option. Howard just a thought but if you get FS2crew you wont need to spend a dime on hardware as you can command just about everything. Hi Zoran, thanks me ol mate, but I have FS2Crew, when on earth does the FO assign the MCP? Besides, the immersion factor for me increases ten fold when using an MCP HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776

Hi Howard, The VRInsight folks are mostly Korean so their English is limited...probably has something to do with the support you're getting. I don't fly the NGX much but, I have to say, the VRInsight Combo works great for me when I do. What problems are you having? I've got it working with almost every switch and knob in the Flight1 Mustang and have kept tweaking. Now I'm starting on the Dukes . Pretty happy with how it's working these days. October 20, 201312 yr Well, I have owned all three and can put out some Pros and Cons. First thing is hardware manufactures only design to support the default ACs and GoFLights MCP has been around a lot longer than the NGX. It's a very niche market and none are going to work easily out of the box once you move past the default ACs. Goflight's MCP works with FS9/FSX/XPlane/should work in P3D and a slew of FSX Payware. It's recognized in FSUIPC natively for button assignments. I had no issues with the build quality, steel and plastic. The price of it new is way overpriced, I got mine off Ebay for around 270US which is what I notice most sell around. You will want the latest firmware on it A25 or you may be subject to lockups on newer PCs. The firmware can only be upgraded at their shop for 75US. It's not a 1:1 scale if that's what you are looking for. Overall I think it's decent if you can get it for the right price. Opencockpits MCP, I have a Ver 2, got it and 2 EFIS for 400US, once the VER3 was announced people were unloading VER 2's for dirt cheap. It's VER3 matches Goflight's MCP in functions with the addition of Backlighting. If you think Goflight can be a bear to configure, do a Google for SIOC. Lot of scripts available, but you will have to learn some basic code. Great Quality and it's the cheapest 1:1 you will find. Not sure what all you can get it to work with, but last I checked there was no XPlane support. Honestly though if you're just looking to turn a few knobs on your desktop and not going for any kind of 1:1, I think VRis MCP is great. Efis, Radios, etc, it's an all in one. I have never tried interfacing the NGX with any of them as I only tested Ifly/Prosim/and x737 and Goflight had native support.
October 20, 201312 yr Howard, personally, I think for this price point (up to $500) they are all going to be clunky plastic in feel and build I'm afraid. Still, at least the GF one works perfectly with the NGX.. Like I said, cant complain about the hardware, seems all ok.. I do get support from GF, dont get me wrong, but its often a bit "huh?" and as said, manuals, forget it, there are no manuals, but all my kit works as it should.. Combine that with the CDU for ipad and life is good. But yes, GF really seem lazy. Like they are not bothered about pushing for excellence, they seem happy to settle for "Its ok" and rest easy. Like when I got the GF Yoke, I was frankly very annoyed to find it has a thumbstick that works your PC's mouse of all things! What a waste, who the heck has, needs or wants a damn mouse on the yoke, and a highly oversensitive one at that.. It's unusable to say the least. If I did it again, I would go for the CPFlight one http://www.cpflight.com/sito/dettagli/mcp737pro.asp I have used this one on a full size static 737 sim and the buttons and dials feel soo much better. ufly737 in west london have it.. I still think GoFlight missed a good chance to provide a viable alternative to Saitek.

Hi Gregg, no problems, just the MCP broke! Stopped working. I trie dto contact Proviation where I bought it, they are a complete and utter waste of space and don't advise anyone to part with their cash with them. They simply never got back to me reqardless of emails, phone calls etc. Anyhow, Flightstore, who I CAN recommend came to the rescue and sent it to the VRinsight in Belgium... they are just in the process of returning it to me after six weeks!! They tend to respond overnight on weekdays. I did have to 'remind' them from time to time. I messed up my board and they sent me a refurbished one in reasonable time...I think the whole process took two weeks. I still don't like the rotaries...not much to do about that other than tweak the LINDA modules to reduce the jumpiness. It's an annoyance but, given the price, everything you get and the fact that it works so well with LINDA...well, it's not that bad.
