  1. Hiya Arjen I use TrackIR, but am still a bit new to it, but what I can tell you is, I use the track clip pro, and boy is it fragile... My first one broke really easily, so my second one, I set its position, then superglued it in place with a LOT of superglue, then wrapped the arm in heavy duty duct tape to re-enforce it severely. If you do get the track clip pro, make sure you strengthen the heck out of it.. Frame rates, I havent seen any loss in frame rates when using it at all... As far as I can tell, its simply an alternative input method to tell FSX where to look, same as your hat switch, only more fluid and of course, following your head. You will need 3 buttons spare to use it for "Centre / Pause / Precision"
  2. It was answered here... Anyway, glad you got it sorted, and good luck setting up Ezdok... I dont use it as I just use the standard FSX views and either my hat switch or TrackIR or both together..
  3. There is already a "look left" hotkey within FSX, so you can just use that, but I dont think you can store eye-point views at all. We know what your asking, its clear to us, and has already been answered, you cannot create and store custom views within FSX to assign to hotkeys. Something like eZdok looks like it can do this... Thats an addon for FSX.
  4. Nope, not doing that at all, I load up the EFB Display unit, and go to "Route setup" from the top, and just input the from/to airports, then once those are in, go to "modify" to input the SID/Approach/STAR etc and thats it, all within the program itself. It never goes to any online websites, it does it all from within the app itself, using data right from within FSX and its navigraph cycle data. Already well aware I could go to those websites for free if need be, by why bother if EFB already does it for me, and uses the data from FSX and the Navigraph cycle.. more chance of things matching the flight sim... Like I said already, twice now, EFB IS Creating the flight plan, it does NOT go to external websites at all. It can if you want it to, by importing flight plans from online sites, but I dont use that at all, I dont need to, it creates the flight plan itself, right within EFB. If thats not a flight plan, then I clearly have a lot more to learn, which I'm sure I will get to at some point, as I said already, I'm far from an ace NGX driver, I'm still learning the ropes, so for me, its awesome, it keeps things simple, but at NO point does it require me to reference any websites at all.. I dont click on VAT Route, nor route finder. I do have vRoute premium if I want to go look up routes, but rarely use it at the moment whilst learning. Like you say though, EFB is great, and I'm sure PFPX is 10x more "realistic" which may be where the 2 differ. 1 may be more "sim friendly" and the other may be more "Realistic pilot friendly" I'm sure there will be a lot missing from EFB that those seeking realism might want, thus PFPX may be the choice for them, depends what you want from your simming I suppose..
  5. Sure mate... All you need to do is go into the "Controls" section of FSX from the main screen and within the buttons/keys page, assign whichever buttons/keys you want to the views it has listed in that menu. So under "FSX > Settings > Buttons/Keys" > select "views" from the "Event category" dropdown menu and you should see all the existing views, and the keys already assigned to them. You can change these just by double clicking any of them and pressing your new chosen key/button/combo.. I hope that helps mate?
  6. No, thats not correct, it creates the entire flight plan right within the application itself, from the navigraph cycle data and FSX data, and includes everything, the SIDs, routes, STAR's, approaches, the works... But it does ALSO have the ability to let you import flight plans from flight planning websites too, then can save them in various formats. I keep my EFB updated with the navigraph cycles to that it matches the FMC on my NGX.. I dont have PFPX, so cant compare, but those making the claims that EFB cant do this/that/the other are wrong... Didnt upset anybody mate lol, I just wanted to correct the incorrect in case others read this and think EFB cant do this or that, when in fact it can... For me, EFB is both simple and awesome as I can create the entire flight plan within EFB, save it to PMDG Format right into the NGX Routes folder on my main FSX PC, load it up in the NGX and from my second PC, follow the entire route on the live map, and have EFB show me the correct charts at all times for the stage of flight I am in. This, for my amateur level is perfect. Especially when taxiing around EHAM trying to work out where the hell to park :-) Plus its all paperless, so no printing stuff, its all on-screen as and only when needed. I dare say PFPX is 10x better for flight plans, but I love EFB's live moving map, showing me the right charts when needed, and it takes me all of 60 seconds to create the flight plan and save it as a PMDG flight plan, all ready to go.. Keeping it simple is great for me whilst still learning the NGX... Heck I can only just barely get the 737-700 from 1 airport to another at the moment, and am still re-visiting the tutorials for info in the limited time I get to flight sim... Not knocking PFPX at all, as like I said, I have never seen it live working, but just wanted to be clear on what EFB DOES do to those who are saying it doesnt. Anyway, I gotta go check my Facebag now and catch up with some buddies :-) ha haaaaaa
  7. Aivlasoft EFB (BAG not BOOK) can create a flight plan, insert SID/STAR/Waypoints/Approaches etc. It's NOT a book for looking things up..
  8. Hi Zoran I just tested my Zurich default and find that its fine. Nothing wrong with it, no aircraft out of place, even with AI aircraft set to 100%, stationary on the ground, no aircraft inside buildings. Aologies though, I thought it was Zurich I bought but it wasnt, its Geneva. Anyway, I hope my test helps a little? All my FSX software and specs are i my profile...
  9. Brazen, FSX has this built right in already, and can be assigned right in the controls menu.
  10. 2 Options. 1. Turn bloom off 2. Turn down other sliders to compensate. Bloom is a heavy FPS hit, so if you enable it, something else has got to give, which currently is your FPS..
  11. Hi Zoran I have that Airport Too... Could you maybe show me a screenshot of whats wrong and I'll see if I can re-create it, then we can both know if its the airport or something else causing it?
  12. I do indeed Robie... I have Avast Antivirus Pro running on both machines, at all times. Would use anything else... But I do have the entire FSX directory excluded from its realtime protection, just to speed up load times and eliminate any stuttering that might happen as FSX accesses files. Now you mention it, maybe I should also exclude GEX/UTX too? Be great if you filled in your profile bud, let us know a tad more about ya... Where are you based mate?
  13. Magnetite, I dont see how it can be hardware related.... I had 2 x SSD drives in RAID0, overclocked CPU @ 4.8Ghz, mad crazy graphics card, yet even when switching view "mode" my 737NGX takes a few seconds to load all the textures.. If I flip to outside view, I see rows of seating, then the rest of the plane quickly appears around it until complete, and going back to VC, its all grey panels for a few seconds. I think its down to just how FSX handles DX9 and loading textures no?
  14. Hey Guys Has anybody tried this yet in FSX with a PMDG 737? If so, did you have any improvement in visuals? It looks great potentially... For the sake of £20, seems worth a punt, but what are the potential downsides?
  15. Hey Robie All done my end.... I followed Froogle Petes tutorial, to the letter, and it all worked first time, so was well chuffed with that... Main O/C'd own built FSX RIG: FSX and associated scenery/airports 737 NGX + GSX Avlasoft EFB Data provider Yoke and rudder Second PC (Cheap ebay Optiplex 780 dual core with 500GB SSD) Software: AS2012 // Avlasoft EFB display unit // vRoute premium // Navigraph charts v4 // Simconnect & WideFS & GoFlight Interface tool & PMDG Interface (Simconnect apps) Hardware: 16 GoFlight USB Modules, including 737 Throttle which seems to work perfectly via the PMDG interface over simconnect.. Logitech G13 for GSX, doors and other crap 17" Touch screen which is fitted to the cockpit arm I just did my very first ever full flight in the 737-700 from EGSS to EHAM, foggy conditions to say the least, might as well have been fliying with no windows.. I have to say, offloading all that crud to the second PC seems to really help, and when it all works, WOW, its just AWESOME! Cant believe its taken me over a year to get this far.. Few bugs with the PMDG interface though, but thats for pollypot to sort, nothing I can do about it.. Really annoyed the LGTII doesnt work properly.. So yeah, I'm all set now, so if you need any help, I would gladly try my best to help you if I can.. Luckily my I.T skillz are far better than my NGX skillz..
  16. Hiya Rob Funny that, because I just finished following that vid about an hour or so ago, works perfectly, just need to figure out what the hell an "Active sky App data" folder is, and now why none of my go flight PMDG interface is now seemingly broken after installing the SDK's.. Simconnect works perfectly now though, but those 2 apps are now needing attention..
  17. Hiya Danny Depends on the screen resolution. I see LG make a freakin awesome 29" super wide screen 21:9 ratio @ 2560 x 1080 for a shade under £400, or you could go nuts and grab am ASUS 31" UHD for a bargain price of only £3400.. Take 2 at that price huh :-) Good luck with it bud..
  18. I'm currently going to try this too, and want to put AS2012 on my second sim PC.. Interested to follow this.. CPTRobie, do you have decent instructions on how to setup simconnect that you could please share mate?
  19. Hiya Danny Using 1 screen, your PC only has to render and feed enough info to show 1600/900 (1.44million pixels), so frames will naturally be higher... You double that from 1600/900 to 3200/900 and suddenly your having to feed twice as much info (2.88 million pixels worth) to your graphics card to be able to render the screen... In clone mode, your still only feeding enough info to show 1.44 million pixels, so the CPU can cope, but its then upto your graphics card as to how many screens it can clone it to and keep up.. It has everything to do with your Motherboard and CPU, as those are the heart and nervous system of your PC... Fast hard drives also are a massive help. If you can get a motherboard that has RAID0 on it, using 2 x SATAIII 6Gbps ports, and stick something like 2 x WD Caviar black drives on it, you WILL also notice a speed improvement, by a LOT. Not quite SSD performance, but very close indeed. Also worth checking out the FSX tweaks. I only use 2 or 3 adjustments to my config file and thats it, its smoooth and looks good. I run the NGX on 3 screens @ 5760 x 1200, and it runs at around 24FPS at the absolute worst, thats landing at heathrow extreme in the NGX, but if I switch it to 1 screen, then my FPS would rocket skywards, but then of course I'd be wearing blinkers flying with only 1 screen... FSX is a CPU HOG! So even with the best graphics card, it will be the CPU thats the bottleneck. You can adjust the NGX from high res graphics to low res textures in the PMDG start menu items, and also adjust its performance by using the CDU in the cockpit too, something I have yet to mess about with, but I can only imagine what I'll get if I lower the NGX textures and its performance, I'm sure FPS will be a lot higher, but I like it smooth, stutter free and looking awesome at where its at currently..
  20. This is an old joke from Sickipedia, but is still highly applicable to all of us simmers... Wonder how many simers are also "Sickipedians"?
  21. I have never had to disable my AV for anything, and have downloaded loads of addons, freeware and other stuff, all without any issue at all. I use, and cant recommend highly enough, AVAST Antivirus Pro, its just far above and beyond those McAfee and Norton / Kaspersky / AVG peices of junk... Lost count of the number of computers I've fixed with any of those installed and were infected with malware/spyware/viruses, yet in all my years, have never, ever seen one come in with AVAST installed on it, that was infected. Not once! Heck I even use AVAST to repair computers that have any of the above installed and are infected too, it really is that good..
  22. Another idea might be to screw the pedals to a peice of plywood, and then screw 1 heavy duty rubber feet to the plywood.. I know quietpc.com do specialised rubber feet to go on the bottom of PC cases that dont mark or skid around, that way its heavier, and wont slide about, and wont get full of dust/dirt, thus need replacing :-)
  23. Hey, sorry bud, just wanted a fellow simmer to get a good deal, more money for sim stuff then right... I didnt call PC Pro's reputation into question either, were all entitled to our opinions.. It was a very long standing joke in many I.T departments, at anybody caught reading PC Pro was said to be slacking off rewading comics during working hours... Never mind. Cant even have a joke here anymore... Enjoy your new rig..
  24. lol, sorry mate, I have no interest in trying to sell you one, just when you mentioned SCAN, the alarm bells went off is all.. No worries, sorry I butted in. Dell are NOT just corporate systems too, the gaming rigs they do are awesome, and of course, nobody said your own build rig is not reliable too :-)
  25. Hi Guys I'm currently trying to get some GoFlight panels, but wanted to ask if anybody knows the difference between the GoFlight T8 panels. Take the switch panel for example, the old one and new one look identical, for example: GF-T8-1 Toggle Switch / Indicator Module and the GF-T8-2 Toggle Switch / Indicator Module Both look identical, same price, same colour, same description, but nothing mentioned as to the difference in version name.. If a new one replaces an old one, I would expect the old one not to be sold anymore, or some new features listed on the new one, but there are no differences listed or visible? Hmmmm
