July 23, 200421 yr well, must be nice to able to spend that kind of money more or less just out of curiosity. You're prolly not doing anything wrong. If you have the PMDG one go back to it and save yourself some harddrive space...billg
July 23, 200421 yr Since the first reply wasn't an attempt to help and seems just another swipe at Ariane, at least I'll try. Assuming you are set up for indicated airspeed vs. true airspeed on your instruments, this is an issue I've seen in aircraft before. In the aircraft.cfg, there should be a section called "flight tuning". Try bumping up the elevator trim sensitivity--I'd say in 25 pct. increments. And do the same with pitch stability if needed. Usually this type of "hunting" is caused when the trim sensitivity is too low--sometimes just a tad. The autopilot functions use trim to keep up with rate of climb and maintaining an assigned altitude.-John
July 23, 200421 yr another swipe? For that kind of money you're suggesting that you need to edit the aircraft.cfg file to make it work? Doh....billg
July 23, 200421 yr Who gives a "you know what" about the money spent? This is one member helping another. You got a problem with that?
July 23, 200421 yr Have you tried e-mailing Ariane support and asking them? :(Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
July 23, 200421 yr Anyone who knows me here knows that I don't hold Ariane in high esteem. However, we all set an example to new members here. When someone seeks help, why is it so difficult to keep focus on their question vs. using their plea as a place to comment on Ariane? It takes a certain maturity to bite one's tounge. You can either offer help, even if it is as simple as suggesting the person contact Ariane support (to the credit of one reply), or, you can open your own thread and take swipes at Ariane all you want. Likely, I'll join you there because you know how I feel. But this is a place where WE--meaning the community, are supposed to help each other. If someone sees a problem with that, please explain why it's so important to use another's plea for help for your own agenda...I'm all ears....-John
July 23, 200421 yr John,Thanks for the helpfull reply I will look into the trim settings,I knew a topic starting with the words "Ariane" would generate some *heat* but I tend to look over those posts and pull out the valuable ones! :)ThanksPaul
July 23, 200421 yr As an owner of an Ariane product I am far from pleased with their flight dynamics and have made my own decision not to purchase from them due to their lack of customer support or interest in the customer for that matter. As for the original poster, I don't own the Ariane 737NG so therefore can't compare what you're seeing. I would suggest that you have it well trimmed before sellecting VNAV though. As a PMDG owner as well, I would recommend flying their plane instead. As I've stated before, I purchased an Ariane product and was not happy with it and will speak with my wallet and warn the uneducated not to buy from Ariane. I just wish more people would do their research on a company before diving head first at a new, over priced, product. We're not here to provide customer support for Ariane and it shows in the replies.Just my opinion..... yours may and probably will vary!Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
July 23, 200421 yr That's a fair reply John...It is a shame that someone has to come here seeking help after having paid the salary of a small country for this product. More than one member has come into the forum seeking help after not receiving a reply from Ariane--or at least that's what they are telling us.These are the risks we warned others of, but seeing that the person opening the thread was fairly new, I find it possible that they stumbled onto Ariane's product prior to finding our forum here.I guess it's in my nature to try and help, regardless of the issue really being owned by Ariane. But I agree with you 100 pct that people should research heavily--the higher the price, the more research. -John
July 23, 200421 yr no agenda. Just don't like snarky replies. I still think that the best option is to go to pmdg. If you need to edit your aircraft.cfg file for an expensive addon aircraft you and I and the whole flight sim community are doing something wrong. My suggestion is to just let this one die....billg
July 23, 200421 yr John,Well done for trying to help - The reason these forums are so popular is because they kindle a shared interest.

July 23, 200421 yr hmmm, maybe my reply was snarkier than the one I called snarky. My bad. I apologize.
July 23, 200421 yr No problem--I am not surprised my first reply caused said snarkiness :)Regards,John
