ATC and Traffic Software? (I am a Newbie to Flight Sim'ing)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to the world of sim'ing, and I have always wanted to try out the sim, but never really got into it before. I am throughly enjoying Eyefinity view (I know Nvidia is good for FSX, but I am stuck with 6970 for forseeable future) with first payware Carenado B200, PNW, GSX+KJFK (with Thanksgiving Discount), and it is just amazing on my desktop. Even though I am quite late to the world of FSX, but wow is all I can say.

So now I have a question - and I am quite confused after searching all the forums out there - What is a good tool which will give me lots of ATC Radio chatter while flying in the sim and seeing the planes in the area I am flying. I know about liveatc.net

But will Ultimate Traffic 2 provide voice ATC (seeing real-life updates seems very cool). I am not fully versed with the commands, but hearing stuff (that is the key for now) on the radio while flying the planes is very cool.

Do you recommend that I stick with FSX's in built ATC radio for now?

PS - If you know what a good small regional jet model (payware or freeware) for PNW area for which compares to PMDG's level of graphics/detail closely?

Thanks,

Yes it will. The AI in Ultimate Traffic 2 chatters over the radio in FSX. So if a British Airways 747 is in front of you, you will hear:

'Speedbird heavy cleared to land runway 27R'

'Beech follow the 747 landing runway 27R'

Thanks for the suggestion, I was playing with WOAI, and I was so impressed to see airports full. What is the recommended setting to see traffic? - would it be 70+ or higher to see lots of traffic coming in and going?

Thanks

I adjust it according to what region I am flying, if I am flying in areas with not too much traffic like outback Australia or northern Canada I will have it set to 100%. If I am flying into Heathrow or JFK I will turn airline traffic down to 80% and GA traffic down to 60%.
