PSS - iFDG Merge

Featured Replies

You know how to point out to me as to use the panel and the load editor PSS for the family airbus of iFDG.. does it exist a file merge?

No merge required for the A319 and A321, and very small airfile mod is need for the A320 though. The loadeditor is a bit more complex, but there is a post on the iFDG forum describing how it can be done, although I have not tried itCheersDan.

I got this here on the forums. I don't recall who wrote it but it is excellent advice and works really well. In addition to the panel always remember to copy the PSS sound over to the iFDG model. I've done this for the A319 and A321 as well. You must seriously use the following to get the best results:Hello Airbus fellows, first of all a big compliment to the iFDG group for that superb Airbus A320 model. PSS' panel won't be able to compete with that model but anyway I'll post instructions on how to merge the the PSS panel with the iFDG A320 model.Requirements:- one of iFDG's A320 models.- PSS A320 Pro packageInstructions:1.) Copy the panel.cfg of your PSS A320 in the the panel folder of your iFDG Airbus.2.) Copy the sound.cfg for the CFM or IAE engines, depending on the model you are using, in the sound folder of the iFDG Airbus. Also copy A320C.air or A320V.air, again depending on the engines your model is using, in the main folder of the iFDG mode.3.) Make a backup of the aircraft.cfg, i.e. call it aircraft.bkp and open the aircraft.cfg of the iFDG model and the PSS model. Be careful and don't mix up the two files!Replace following parts from the iFDG aircraft.cfg with your PSS aircraft.cfg:[GeneralEngineData]...[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]...[fuel]...[TurbineEngineData]...[Reference Speeds]...[autopilot]...4.) Replace the [flaps.0] entry with this entry:[Flaps.0]type=1span-outboard=0.500000extending-time=20.000000system_type=1flaps-position.0=0.000000,0.000000flaps-position.1=7.998491,0.000000flaps-position.2=15.996982,0.000000flaps-position.3=23.995472,0.000000flaps-position.4=31.993963,0.000000flaps-position.5=39.992454,0.000000damaging-speed = 233.0blowout-speed = 250.0lift_scalar = 0.85drag_scalar = 0.8pitch_scalar = 1.1system_type = 1 //HydraulicNow you have the correct flaps settings in the panel and the model shows them correctly too (flaps and slats).5.) Under [fltsim.X] replace the sim=... (i.e. sim=Airbus320-200IAE] with sim=A320C for the CFM engines or sim=A320V for the IAE version, again depending on the model you are using and which files you copied in point 2.).6.) Last step; copy a320_ref.txt and a320_check.txt from the PSSA320 folder in your iFDG A320 folder and make sure the entry under [fltsim.0] looks like this:[fltsim.0]....kb_checklists=a320_checkkb_reference=a320_ref....This steps ensures that you can read the A320 checklist in Flight Simulator and get the right ZFW and Max Fuel values for the FMC => correct Take Off speed etc.THE END

Oops, I forgot that you can't show brackets on the forum, so I've replaced the brackets with the symbol( )Hello Airbus fellows, first of all a big compliment to the iFDG group for that superb Airbus A320 model. Hi there,i'm very interested in that merge you described so carefully. One vital question thought: i own PSS A320 full package with many liveries i bought during FS2002 days. Is this the same i must use for PSS/iFDG merge? Can't spot any new A320 at PSS site....Just in case, can i update my PSSA320 free of charge? Thanks a lotUmberto

...or at least as an alternative, can I use PSS A330 FS2004 edition? Are 320 330 panels the same thing?thank you 4 help me!Umberto

I think it best to use the PSS 330 panel with the Posky A330. You can apply the same merge technique above to the A330.Lee

Umberto, You can redownload and install the updated for FS2004 A320 from their website when you log in. IFDG says that no merge is required and all you have to do is alias the panel in the panel config file. I tried that with the IFDG A319 and the PSS panel and everything seems to be working fine.Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

It will work a lot better if you use the above steps, because the FMC is programmed for the PSS numbers.Lee

You do not need to merge anything, everything, including the FMC works fine, in fact the FD is a bit better than the PSS one.Just alias the panels and sound in the usual way.CheersDan.

Can anyone possibly point me the right direction to the IFDG forum location for implementation of the "loadit" utility in the merge. I am afraid old blind Tom is overlooking it.Thanks:RTH
