Question about demo limits

Featured Replies

i'm trying the demo and i'm not sure if i understand the limitations correctly.

so for example i tried the import metar features to test weather changes from point A to point B :

case 1 :

- i try a short flight with a fast plane to prevent 15 minutes limit (LSGS - LSZA)

- both metars are in the import file and i set super sunny at LSGS and super rainy at LSZA

- i do the flight at standard speed, and when close to LSZA the weather is still the same sunny as LSGS, it doesn't change, is that a demo effect ? (the opus weather report says correctly overcast in fsx once i got close to LSZA, but the weather is still sunny)

- of course if i start from LSZA the depicted weather is correct (rain)

case 2 :

- i started at BIKF, and set destination in opus far away (LIBD) (i added those metars to the import file correctly)

- when at BIKF i ask for destination weather report and it says 'unavailable' .. is that once again because i'm using the demo, or is it too far away or maybe i dont understand what the 'set destination' feature means (does it have to be inside the 300km square)

- if i move the aircraft manually to LIBD it gives the correct report so i guess my imported metar file is correct

sorry if it's an obvious or a stupid questions hehe, i understand that the demo says updates only on the ground, but i'm not sure if means update as 'download new metars', or update as 'changing weather from one metar to another' while in flight (but if this doesn't work in the demo i think it's very tough to test the program hehe)

thank you.

Hi

The demo is for 10 minutes and extends only 100 miles, if you fly over 100 miles you get clear and sunny weather, however the weather map extends 300 miles around you so the weather report is the weather you would have seen in non-demo mode.

When you get the message weather unavailable it is because the airfield is over 100 miles away, in the non-demo version the weather reports are correct up to 300 miles away.

You can try the full version and get a full refund within 30 days if you are not happy with the software.

Regards

Cheryl

thank you for the the infos, there are so many settings, info and threads about these weather programs that i tend to get lost

i think my tests were a bit on the weird side hehe :P .. i'll probably buy it sooner or later anyway, and once bought i never ask for refunds but yeah it takes time and tests to decide to buy hehe

The demo is really intended for you to go on a short local flight to check out the local weather.

Cheers
