AS2012 SP2 and P3D will not connect

Recommended Posts

I have ASE (SP4) and AS2012 (SP1) on a workstation PC.

I have FS9.1, FSX (SP2) and P3D 1.4.4747.0 (Simconnect version 1.4.0.0) on a server.

I have FSUIPC and FSUIPC Wide (current versions).

Naturally, I do not have weather data for P3D yet but I do have proper weather ASE/FS9.1/FSX and AS2012/FSX. all are working with FSUIPC wide or Simconnect .... no problems.

I wanted to try AS2012 Beta SP2 (build B4696) to get weather tested in P3D so I installed SP2.

The initial startup screen gave me a FSX or P3D selection and asked me for "paths" to the server .... but what I selected did not work.

It errored out.

I tried starting AS2012 again and got the same selection choices and the same results.

I tried starting AS2012 again ... this time I could not try new "paths" to the server ...

Instead, I got a screen for selecting Load Default Options Profile.

So I know I have SP2 installed.

When it finishes loading I see "FSX disconnected". So I know we are not talking to P3D.

But I had P3D running on the server hoping it would be seen by AS2012 SP2 ...

At this point I quit P3D and started FSX.

FSX worked ok with AS2012 SP2 OK.

So, I am missing one link to get AS2012 SP2 and P3D talking ....??

More info.

Note: I removed my "license info" from the screenshot.

I checked my registry:

My P3d Path was \\HomeSV1\Lockeed Martin.

I tried \\HomeSV1\Lockeed Martin\PrePar3D

Which is the full path to the PrePar3D.exe file ... I assume this would be correct.

Still did not work.

I think some registry data is missing for P3D?

These are my paths to files on my server:

F:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

C:\Users\vaughan\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

C:\Users\vaughan\Documents\Prepar3D Files

Should my registry have entries for all three of these?

Hello Vaughan,

Please try B4722 which was just posted. If you continue having issues, can you please open a ticket at http://support.hifitechinc.com including a log export, so we can investigate? Thank you!

Guest vonson

Same problems with SP2 Beta 2 .... so I submitted an "official" ticket.

Feedback on this networking problem.

After a few days on the HiFi support ticket system I found that my network paths to the server were ok.

These are the paths to the required files on my server PC.

F:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

C:\Users\vaughan\Documents\Prepar3D Files

C:\Users\vaughan\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

What was missing ... was a simconnect.xml file for P3D's use.

Initially, I did not think I need it because FSX was hooking up ok to to AS2012 on the workstation using simconnect.

And when trying to connect AS2012 to P3D, I seen an entry in the AS2012 screen log that simconnect was seen.

Anyway the final solution:

I copied my existing simconnect.xml file from:

C:\Users\vaughan\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\

To:

C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\

Lastly, I did a screenshot of my registry so it might help someone on another day.

Thank you for posting this, Vaughan. I just purchased AS2012 today. I was having the same issue and had overlooked that step. Thanks a lot for the solution. Looking forward to having weather in P3D finally!
