The long way around

Since I am not a real pilot or flying for an airliner, I see no reason to take a direct route anywhere. It is more interesting to explore and see the sights, check out the places where people don't normally go.

The Girdwood Aerocache was located in a place where I had already flown and landed, specifically when headed towards Whittier, so I decided it was better to start my flight at Hope, head into the back country to explore the valleys and see the mountains, before getting to Girdwood.

On a whim, I decided to head down to Summit Lake, not too far.

There it is up ahead, may as well land there.

Then, on with my trip through the mountains. In the distance is the bay and the final destination of Girdwood.

I think that I can safely say that this is the very first time in any version of Flight Simulator that we can explore the countryside and get the impression of really being some place in the world. There is so much detail and a lot more realism to the terrain than there has ever been before.

Perhaps the developers and artists don't get enough recognition for the incredible work accomplished in Microsoft Flight.

Best regards.

I got to agree totally there Luis. I just can't get over the level of detail every where one looks. It is fun flying into the back country (pick any random spot on the map)and finding those little hidden airstrips that just seem to be every where in Alaska. Dare I say, It is the best I have ever seen with out those troublesome and expensive add-ons. Jump in, fly, jump out, no problems!
