Perfect Flight's Fly the MD-11

Featured Replies

Well.. I bought it. Beginning to wish I hadn't.I have tried to talk to their support, but it's by now getting clear that I'm being ignored so I'll try here instead. Maybe someone here has the answers, and hopefully it will make others think twice before getting this product. In short, I have a problem with the flight dynamics, beginning at slow taxiiing. I'm using a MS force-feedback joystick to control the aircraft, and it moves full left to right and back again and so on and so fort, shaking violently to the extent that the aircraft is hard to control. Can I somehow get rid of that behaviour without disabling force-feedback?Secondly the flight dynamics, and particulary the auto-pilot seems to have a strange obsession with aircraft pitch, always keeping it in the takeoff position. Surely that can't be the only pitch-configuration used on a MD-11?And the auto-pilot... it's having a significant problem maintaining altitude while also being involved in a turn. It will pick back up, but when flying approaches it's kind of scary when you're at 2000ft and the aircraft suddenly drops 1000ft because you are in a turn. It's as if it doesn't compensate enough with the engines, and surely this can't be the behaviour of a real MD-11 autopilot? To finish it off (no more questions, more of a review) there is a distinct lack of documentation, most of it consists of facsimilies from what looks like real MD-11 documents, that are of little use in the FS world (at least to me). The so called ABL-compiler has significant limitations and is mostly a joke.. you have 4-5 checkboxes to control it with (ie, do you want your copilot to read the checklist: yes/no), and in turn I have a real pain setting up the flight that I want as I have to load weather, flightplan and so on from inside the flightsimulator. Speaking of the copilot, the supplied checklist on the kneeboard does not match the checklist called by your copilot when using ABL-adventure.. nor does the documentation give any help. And then there is the apparent lack of support from Perfect Flight... I guess it comes down to this people: Stay as far away as you can from this product, and possibly from all their products. Now, can anyone recommend a MD-11 that is really good?/Deimos

Another victim of Imperfect Flight...Haven't seen any MD11s for over a year (in FS that is).

>Another victim of Imperfect Flight...Yep, one day people will stop buying the rubbish they pedal>Haven't seen any MD11s for over a year (in FS that is).iFDG do a very nice MD11, that combined with this panel > http://www.acsoft.ch/Flight_Simulator/ACS-...md11-panel.html is a great plane.CheersDan.

The only reason I purchased it is because of the unfortunate but well justified (ie freeware airplanes) lack of virtual cockpits. There is no md-11 with a VC, so I went out and purchased "perfect flights" md-11. First thing I noticed was the VC is not aligned with the model, when looking out the VC you are actually sitting somewhere near the wings in the middle of the plane! thus making it extremely hard to get a "feel" for the airplane since you arent sitting at the front. But that and generic gauges in the VC are my only complaints. Support emailed me once telling me to update my drivers or something and when I explained the VC alignment in detail I got no response back again. So I think some of their sales has to do with their knowledge that most people who can't find certain planes with certain features will go anywhere to try what they were looking for, such as the mistake I made

i got bitten,i think it was a version of mad dog.anyway that was first and last time i bought perfect flight software(to put it bluntly ..it was crap) whats the old saying...Once bitten........ steve

I'll never buy that product :-eek

Alex, I ended up buying Wilco's A320PIC for that exact same reason you mentioned above, lack of an alternative. PSS I feel dropped the ball on their update (FDE still needs work and no clickable VC, etc.) and there is really no decent up to date freeware/payware A320 offered now or in the distant future. The A320PIC is actually a decent product, they shouldn't have tried to pioneer the clickable VC because flight control and other aspects of this product leaves allot to be desired. Everything I wish PSS would have implemented is in A320 PIC so I guess it's going to have to hold me until PMDG or someone else steps up to the plate designs a quality A320. A320PIC is not that far behind PMDG's offerings as far as systems modeling. It would have been a much better product if they would have stayed within Microsoft's SDK design specifications. As of now peddle brakes don't work and ActiveCamera has problems with this product. There a few other issues that stand out like a sore thumb but at least I have Fly By Wire and other realistic features implemented that you can't find any ware else. PMDG's 737 is the only other offering I know of that has made great efforts to dive into the systems of an aircraft like this. So for the A320 I seem to have made out better than you have with the MD11. We really need this bird (MD11) and the DC10 done right for a change. I know the DC10 and L1011 is on it's way to Flight Simulator but there's really no MD11 in sight. Same goes for the A320 series...

FS2020

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

I bought the MD11 from Perfect Flight. My thoughts? Rubbish. Where do I start? The panel looks like something my ten year old brother designed in art class, the sounds are rubbish, the gauges are FS2000 stock, the sounds are lousy and to top it off the visual model looks like an MD11 that someone sat on! I had more fun when I got burgled on Christmas Day.
