The best add-ons for Flight Simulator 2004?

Featured Replies

I've heard that Traffic 2004 is very good and I heard something about "VoiceComm" (or something) as well. It implements voice recognition so you can simply say "Gear down" instead of having to remember which key is assigned to that. Does this take away from the realism, etc?Anyways, what are the BEST add-ons for FS2004? I'd like some kind of traffic add-on and to upgrade the graphics (airport, etc) as MUCH as possible. I'm running on a very good system so I'd like all the top-notch/highest quality add-ons I could get.Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Don't know much about Traffic, but as for graphics:* VFR Photographic Scenery for the UK (series of 4)* British Airports (series of 4)* FS Terrain or VFR Terrain for UKBetween them, you will get the best scenery around... so long as you want to fly VFR in the UK.You don't mention hardware, but the CH yoke and pedals are pretty much a necessity.

Well, I'm actually in Scranton, PA (USA). Thanks for the links to the UK scenary though!I'm mostly interested in flying out of Scranton, PA (AVP) and Allentown, PA (ABE) to Florida, etc (at least to get started). Eventually I'll start flying international flights though :)As for hardware, here is my machine (briefly):Pentium 4 - 2.53 GHzATI Radeon 9700 Pro1 GB PC2700 RAMSo, I should be able to crank all the settings to max on my dual monitors (19" and 17").As for joysticks, all I have is a MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2. I can't afford pedals or anything so hopefully this joystick will be good enough. If I don't use pedals will that ruin my experience that badly? Also, since I'm very very very new to FS2004, what should I use my 2nd monitor for in FS2004?Thanks!Please keep the suggestions coming!

Sorry, but I suggest that you start small and easy. You do not have a state-of-the-art system and you will not be able to "crank all the settings to max", even on one monitor. There are many add-ons right here that will add to your experience.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

You'll be able to fly just fine with the twist grip instead of the pedals, it's just not like the real thing though...2nd Monitor:I use mine 2 ways. 1. Gauges. This is my main use: put all the guages and radios, GPS etc on the second, and fly in VC on the main one. 2. More screen real estate. Place the monitors next to each other, add a second window of the virtual cockpit onto the second monitor, and you get double the screen. It ain't perfect, but it does feel far less clautrophobic, and it's great for doing airfield circuits.Setting up the second monitor and moving the FS windows to it is not a user friendly experience. You get used to it. Suggest you do a search on here on how to set it up.Have fun.

Here's my short and sweet list.1. FSGenesis Mesh and Landclass: High Quality, low prices, unrivaled support. Truly a gem of a business.2. Flight One: Ultimate Traffic3. Flight One: US Roads4. GA Traffic (freeware, available here from Markus)5. Any scenery addon by Holger Sandmann
