Did I miss something with AI traffic

Featured Replies

Hi Opus (Stephen & Cheryl)

First of all, thank you for some simple software that really is in its own class

However my AI-traffic is landing in the wrong wind directions, did I miss some setting or isn't it implemented yet?

Also you should make an selection for short hops, because I have trouble reading metar of my destination if less then 200 km. As far as I remember the short route i mostly fly is less then that.

I think it would be nice to be able to check the metar from the in game access window. I guess it would have to read the metar of the destination only, since weather distance implementation probaly shouldn't be fiddled with :)

How are windws below FL200 simulated? same as surface?

Sometimes I would find it neat to be able to read like FL100-200 wind..

Thanks again!

Merry X-mas

Hi John

What is the wind in the METAR when you arrive at your destination, it may be different from when you started your flight, is that what you mean? You can check this in the Local Weather Report window (add-on menu).

You can set ICAO codes in the Weather dialog for your destiation and up to 4 alternates, you can then check the METARs in flight from the in game add-on menu, select OpusFSI Reports, these are accurate up to 300 miles away.

OpusFSX Simulated Winds Aloft

Unless the upper winds are defined within an import file they are simulated using both the current surface conditions and the prevailing jet stream, trade winds, polar winds, equatorial winds etc. for the aircraft's current latitude. All winds generally increase in speed up to 60,000ft.

At the moment we are currently working to making the 'Sim Friendly' GRIB winds perform as well as our simulated winds but as you can appreciate the trial and error process with FSX takes some time.

Cheryl

Well if I check the metar with my local station it is not the same before im on the approach.

The Metar is correct when I arrive, but it is being defined by my departure airport which is less then 200 km away.

That is what I mean :) Nothing wrong with the metar deciption when its done..

Thanks John, we are making a slight change to the software and will post a new beta either today or tomorrow. This will ensure you get a timely weather update prior to your arrival.

I have noticed when the wind is directly cross it seems to be chance which runway FSX chooses, i.e. I am given clearance to land at one end and another aircraft is simultaneously landing at the other end, it entails some fast taxiing skills!

Hehe I guess so.. Now I just have to figure out how to make the airport behave correctly.. but thats not your area..

Looking forward to the update and will post if the 'issue' continue :)
