AFCAD2 airport files

Featured Replies

Hi there, I was just wondering what these (AFCAD2 files) are used for and how do you use them?x:)~

They are used to tell the AI were to go at the airport and also for you to configure the airport the way you like. Basically a diagram of the airport including parking spots, taxiways, etc. Using AFCAD2.2 (the program) you can load up either a downloaded Afcad2 file or one of the defaults and change many parts of it. Hope that helps.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International

Hi there, I just found the program. Thanks this helps alot.

Just as a follow-up, and prepared to incur the wrath for asking this in the wrong forum:Regarding those afcad files that are incorporated into third party scenery, for example NL2000 v2.9, can the provided Afcad2 files remain within those scenery files and be operational and/or read by UT?Or must they be moved to the default addon scenery folder? In my case all 3rd party scenery resides on a separate partition apart from FS2004. I know that the F1UT afcad has to be removed. Thanks for any help in clarification.

AF2 files should be placed in the FS9addon sceneryscebery folder as the program install them by default. The reason is because if you have 2 AF2's and change one then ypu get rewarded with instant CTD ( crash to desktop). The placement of them in the scenery folder of the airport that uses it would make for a situation that would be very dangerous. If you or someone alters a AF2 file for that airport and it's not in the FS9AddonSceneryscenery folder, then you have 2 AF2's and both are different... that will confuse the sim on which to use...... CTD!!!Joe W.

Thanks for your reply although I am not hearing a clear answer to my question. Please allow me to ask again:If I leave the afcad2.bgl file,(which is provided by and included in the 3rd party author's scenery),in my scenery directory (i.e E:SceneryNetherlandsscenery), will it be read and processed by FS2004 as if it resideds in the default add-on sceney folder?I have removed the default afcad2 file from FS2004add-on scenery. My point is that I do not want to segregate the custom afcad2 file so that when updates are published, the afcad gets updated. Thanks

Thank you for your answer.

But........If you have a CTD...... It will probally be that one causing it.Joe W.
