December 25, 201213 yr I want to use fsx for ifr procedure training. My computer is rather week so i take all the graphix down to get more fps, but the instruments(ifr cockpit mode) sometimes 'jump', and is there a way to gette better resolution in the cockpit but not use to many recourses on outside graphix? How do i best set up the weather so that i get the wind gradient and the right turning the first 2-3000' ? if i just pick actual weather does it include that? Hope you can help me out making the last ajustments, really nice using it to learn the procedures in instrument approaches
December 27, 201213 yr Instruments jumping will happen with the original FSX without SP1 installed. If you've never installed either SP1 or SP2 or Acceleration, you can get SP1 in the Avsim library. I flew with just SP1 for years, and found SP2 broke as much as it fixed, so use your own judgement about installing SP2. You'll need SP2 for most add-ons these days. As for the weather, first set the clear weather theme, then select user defined weather and click on the customize button. Explore all the options there and experiment until you find what you need. The default Cessna 172 is a good IFR practice plane. Hope this helps. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 27, 201213 yr Author Hi i already have acceleration, but i doesnt want to install, ill figure that out, its more the weather and cockpit graphix.. If i make a 'box' from 1 foot above rwy to 3000 feet with the wind below the box at rwy streanght and direction, and in the box itself 15 degrees to the right and 50% more wind and above the box to 30 degrees to the right of rwy wind and twice the streangth and set shear streanght to max inside the box, will the wind gradually change througout the box?
January 21, 201313 yr Author can anybody explain or link to an explenation on how the weather settings work? If i make a wind box from 1000'-2000' with the wind being different speed and direction above and below the box, where in the box will wind be as i set it? and how does the 'wind sheer' slider effect the wind in, above and below the box?
