Beastly computer upgrade...lol

Featured Replies

Right now, I am in the process of acquiring my master's degree in Computer Science.

Long story short, funded by the school we are all acquiring new software that will be undergoing testing.

Bottom line, I am going to have this new computer to test drive for awhile. I am pretty freakin excited. You will be too once I share the specs.

FSX is one of the software i'll be testing! Here are the specs i'll be having.

Intel Core i7-3930K Overclocked to 5.2 Ghz

6 Cores

A brand new GTX 690 with 4 GB of memory Superclocked

Aquipped with 32 GB of RAM (16X2)

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

FSX won't be the only thing we will be testing. I will be sure to come back and see if the new GTX 690 turns out, and the i7-3930K improves FSX performance at all.

I'm aware that 32GB of ram really doesn't make a difference, but once again FSX won't be the only thing we will be testing.

Super excited!

Looks like it should run FSX super well!! Do you have the cost of that machine?

Freaking awesome Scarlett!

May I ask what will your FSX tests consist of?

Also, does that monster come already overclocked to 5.2GHz? :O

I didn't buy all of it, but I know the GTX 690 is $1,000 in itself, and the i7-3930K is about $600.

I am pretty sure the Ram was about $500.

I'm not really testing FSX for school. Just for fun!

In school we are in groups of about 10-15 where we are designing programs that require top of the line software.

I just get to have the computer to myself for awhile so why not test out FSX on such a machine!!

Wow, I knew it would be expensive, but I didn't expect that much. Have fun!!!

What languages are you learning to program in? Just curious...
