FSX MultiDisplay PLEASE Help!

Featured Replies

Hi there, I'm new to AVSIM forums but intermediate with FSX. I have an issue with a multiple display. I am using a EVGA GTX 660 TI connected to two monitors both at 1360x768. One is connected by a VGA and the other HDMI. My desktop spans perfectly fine. I would like to use one screen for my 'main view' and the other for my instruments. FSX runs fine on my primary display, but when I undock the instruments and move them to the other display, they freeze up and/or show a black screen. Any help would be great!

Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon Dual Core 4450e ~2.3GHz

GPU: EVGA GTX 660 Ti

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

FSim: FSX Deluxe

DirectX Version: DX11

Memory/RAM: 3GB

I have the same problem but I have a larger, more powerful system with more memory so I'm not surprised with your black screens and system freezing. It's possible to move instruments and things like the map page but if you try to move it out or around on the other monitor, the screen will go black. So far I have not seen fsx freezing. It's just that I can't get to the object I undocked and moved to the other screen. I just don't think this was in the mission planning by the FSX developers over 6 years ago and AMD and Nvidia stopped making drivers just for FSX a long time ago.

I see you listed your DX11 version. Just so you are aware and to clarify, FSX cannot use DX11 or DX12 technology but Direct X is backwards compatible with previous versions. FSX can only use DX9 and, for those who have installed SP2 or Acceleration, DX10 in a Preview mode.

Best regards,

Jim

yeah I've been wanting to get a better computer just don't have the money right now. I used to have an Radeon 5670 GPU and it would work correctly for what I'm trying to do. Is there any software that would help me?

Is there any software that would help me?

If I knew of any, I would be installing it myself! I think the ability to use your second monitor for various gauges and instruments, maps and kneeboards is great. Just wish it would work better in FSX. I learned about this ability down in the DX10 forum. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can provide more details or suggest a fix. I just wanted to post and let you know you are not the only one having this issue.

Best regards,

Jim
