Is it best to ask for taxi Clearance.before you pushback?

I am finding that I can not get taxi Clearance after I did the pushback.

I always request clearance to taxi after pushback, though the fact that you cannot get that option after pushback is interesting. However, if I can't be sure which runway will be allocated for take off which would mean my turning would point the aircraft in the wrong direction, then I would request taxi clearance after pushback. I do also use top down view to ascertain which direction I should request the tug to turn me.

To your problem: after getting initial clearance (clearance delivery) and you get permission to fly to xxxx feet, then ATC tells you to tune to Ground to get clearance to taxi. Do you not see the same option whether you are at the Gate or after pushback? That dialog box should not change until either you use one of its options, or you have proceeded too far for it to have any further bearing on you.

I only see the option when I am at the gate with no pushback. When I do the pushback and then ask the taxi info it gives on info to the runway, only taxi to runway 27r.

"I only see the option when I am at the gate with no pushback. When I do the pushback and then ask the taxi info it gives on info to the runway, only taxi to runway 27r."

If I understand you correctly, after push back, you still get a taxi instruction: which could be: 'taxi to Runway 27R via taxiways M, S1, T' (an example only). Do you see this and are able to acknowledge the instruction? If so, this is normal and correct. After arriving and holding short of Runway 27R and you tune your radio from Ground to Tower, then the further option comes up, to request permission to take off. So from what I have mentioned above, what is it that you don't see or are unable to do?

No, After push back I do not get taxi instruction. I thought you should do the pushback before asking the taxi instructions.

Sorry Mark, when reviewing your earlier statement, it appeared that you were getting taxi info ("it gives on info to the runway"). But in fact, you were saying ("it gives no info to the runway").

I can't suggest anything else, except does this anomaly happen only at the airport and/or gate you mentioned, or does it occur at other airports/gates. What you are experiencing is strange, since the contents of the ATC dialogue box should not change with such a small movement of the aircraft (i.e. from a gate to a point on the tarmac and ready to taxi).

Sorry, no other suggestions, except to either get clearance to taxi while at the gate (as you had to do), or else use the top down view and find your own path to the active runway.

This allways happens at heathrow

I tested this out at EGLL and after pushback in different types of aircraft, I was able to receive the full taxi instructions. Have you tried using other aircraft and other gates/ramps at EGLL? Otherwise, you may just have to get taxi instructions before pushback.

Do not what gate works

I went back into EGLL, using the default B737. I parked at four different gates (139, 143, 324, 405). After pushback, I received taxi clearance and was given full taxiway routes from each of those gates. So there's no problem with the Airport. Are you using the default airport, or third party's? If so, you may want to use the default and see whether your problem remains.

default It could be i done the pushback too long. Like at some USA Airports The Taix Ways are not close to the gates. You can tell when you see the green in the dark.

How far are you having the tug push you back? You don't need to be pushed onto a taxiway; just pushed away from the jetway and hitting key 1 or 2 to turn left or right. Once you're in position (still on the tarmac), then get Taxi clearance, start engines, etc. Is this what you're doing?

Got a addon that for me.

I used the FSX ATC, what I did was I load the plane on the gate and get my pre flight done while I did that I talked to the tower for clearance and what runway to taxi to to but in the FMC. After I got AS2012 I could see what the weather direction was and I used charts to see what the runway heading was so I stopped to use the FSX ATC because it did not use STARS and SIDS.
