January 3, 201313 yr Hi all... I have recently purchased the NGX 737 and am enjoying things so far. Of course..like everyone else , trying to eek out the best performance out of it is a priority. I am getting anything from 16 to 25 fps in the VC and 35 plus in 2D. I have a 4 year old i7 920 and stock 2.67Mhz with a GTS 250. I cannot overclock due to a locked BIOS. I read that disabling DX10 may improve FPS rates. When I attempt to do this however, the 737 will load but the VC will be missing the MFD's / and most of the rest of the interior. 2D is fine though . Any idea why this would be the case ? and does turning off DX10 actually make much of a difference performance wise ? I would be happy to fly in 2D ( a shame though to be missing out on the HGS)..when I try this though I find the seating position too low and I cant see out of the cockpit too well. Is a seat raising key command ?.. thanks
January 3, 201313 yr Welcome to AVSIM! I actually experience better performance with DirectX 10 enabled, especially with exterior/wing views. If you have ruled out any activation/installation errors, applying tweaks such as HIGHMEMFIX=1 and UIAutomationCore.dll may prevent aircraft loading and memory usage errors. Please reference Word Not Allowed's Guide for detailed instructions on the application, benefits, and usage of these tweaks. I never use the 2-D cockpit (I do use 2-D panels with the PMDG B747, though), so I am not experienced with adjusting 2-D views. With your computer, you should be able to find settings that allow decent virtual cockpit performance.
January 6, 201313 yr Author I have checked the settings you suggested. I used the venetubo cfg which set them up ok. I am sure though, as the ngx manual states, that DX10 is hard on a system, it would be nice to uncheck it without my panel disapearing (VC)
January 6, 201313 yr I am sure though, as the ngx manual states, that DX10 is hard on a system, it would be nice to uncheck it without my panel disapearing (VC) DX10 may be performance heavy, but DX9 should only be worse. There are several optimizations in DX10 that allow previously unusable luxuries such as light bloom and higher water settings to be used without much performance impact. If the problem still persists after applying the tweaks, I recommend posting screen shots and/or visiting and asking for support in the DX10 forum. I have heard of several issues that sometimes occur when one transfers between DX9 and DX10, but my knowledge about the fixes for these issues is too limited.
