Very good point Tom - I am getting a little "peeved" with Nortons even though it saved me a couple of times more than McAfee - but the cost and the "intrusion" is starting to grate

NOD32...read the reviews and virus tests (not Cnet/ZDnet). NOTHING gets past NOD32...and you won't even know it's running in your system. I understand Microsoft uses NOD32 to scan files before posting them for download. 'Nuff said!

>>Yes, Nod32 has stopped one virus whilst browsing.I had Nod32 installed, it did a great job. The last time I flew in MultiPlayer though, I was repeatedly knocked off the session and in some instances, CTD. I went through several tweaks but nothing helped. When it happened the last time I made a screen save of what MS said the problem was caused by ESet. (Nod32)I then shut down Nod32 with EndItAll, rebooted and joined the MP session. It happened again. This time I shut down Nod32 with Task Manager, and joined the MP session. It happened again.I don't know how it happened, it just did. I am not making this up and I am not lying. Why on earth should I?At any rate I finally deleted/unistalled Nod32 from the hard drive, went back (two days later) to MP and flew the entire 2 hours + session with nary a hiccup.Make what of it as you will. I'm simply posting my experience with Nod32. Regards,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87441.jpg

I've been running Norton 2004 for the past couple months. All I can say is that it is a huge (monster) system resources hog. It eats ram like there's no tommorrow and very noticeably slowed my entire system down. I've about had it and ready to uninstall it. I'm ready to try this NOD32. Whatever that is? Also, my ISP just added spam protection and antivirus protection, so the need for an all encompassing intrusive scanner like Norton is not as important as before. Somebody got a link to some info on it.

What's the beef with Outlook/Outlook Express? I've installed all of MS's critical updates and used the latter for years and it has always served me well with nery a hiccup. What's more, recently I abandoned Norton in favour of AVG (which is currently free and does an excellent job with little or no impact on system performance) and it integrates extremely well with both Outlook Express and Star Downloader with regular and frequent free virus pattern updates. My experience persuades me to now recommend AVG.http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/http://www.anti-virus-software-review.com/Mike

AVG works for me. Uses low resources, is easily shut down, and is easy to use and d/l updates.Greg

>You must've done something wrong.I use Eudora (version>6.1.2.0) and NOD32 works faultlessly with it. Every mail I>recieve has the following message underneath:I doubt that double-clicking on nentenst.exe to install the program is doing something wrong. Aside from that, AVG leaves the same type of message:"Incoming mail is certified virus Free.Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.735 / virus Database: 489 - Release Date: 8/6/2004"It's the same with outgoing. And just for laughs I tried the install again a few minutes ago:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87470.jpg

<<>>>>Ah, so not only have you relinquished responsibility for your computer's security to an antivirus program, but you now feel more secure knowing your ISP has taken over those duties. Amazing! Absolutely amazing! I urge you with all godspeed to search for and read, articles pertaining to internet security, please.
