About textures and some comments

Featured Replies

I fell for the positive feedback for this app and bought it. First impression was positive du to its simplicity.

I had great difficulties to get it work though. I could not get actual metars and tried the default weather themes instead, they looked really lame and gray.

I finally solved (just before I would have sent a refund demand for flight1) the actual metar problem by sharing my d drive (where my fsx installation resides). Then I was ###### trying to find the metar text before flight, I found it only when sitting in the plane in game. I guess only way to do some weather based planning is to use spy button when sim has already loaded?

Now flight tests continue, no head movements visible yet.

Now, about those textures. The recommended Pablo Diaz clouds are for FS9, any problem with that in FSX?

If no, can I use REX textures from FS9?

At present I guess I have XGraphics cloud textures although I haven't launched it while testing Opus. Because of the lameness and grayish look I mentioned earlier I doubt if I have fsx default textures instead...

I' report back soon.

You need to follow the getting started guide before using OpusFSX but the progam will display an error message if sharing etc is not set up correctly.

You can check the weather using the weather reports which are accessed from the FSX add-on menu, just add you destination and alternate ICAO codes in the weather dialog before your flight.

To see DHM you must configure and use the cameras, we have provided some default 737 views which you can adapt if necessary, or create your own.

There are links on our website to the clouds from Pablo Diaz and the sky conversions from Danny Glover (here). You can use REX textures but not sure about the FS9 version.

Okay, that Glover link was good thanks.

I just thought if Diaz´s fs9 clouds are ok, then the rex should be too.

Greetings from a virtual flight. Quite nice weather depiction I must say.

Those view things are a bit strange, once I got airborne I was thrown away from the cockpit. Cycling through the views did not help, I was outside ahead of my plane. I had to reset flight and deactivate the live view in order to get to cockpit.

Check the camera view configurations, sounds like they are not set up properly for your aircraft type.

When views enabled I´m thrown away from several aircraft and connection to FSX fails randomly.

This has lots of potential, but I guess as a customer I´ll join you later in the development.

You will crash FSX if you use any textures designed for FS9. Different code method is used for fsx, so I would suggest not too use anything designed for FS9.

We have provided some example cameras for the 737 but if you are using a small GA aircraft then you will obviously need to set up the cameras to suit your individual aircraft, otherwise you will be sitting outside the aircraft. Is this what you mean?

There must be a reason why the connection to FSX is failing, do you get any error messages in the spy window? I'm sure there is a simple explaination.
