January 5, 201313 yr Hi All, first Post of 2013, so a very Happy New Year to all. As my Title asks, something I have never really thought about in all the years of using FS9 and FSX. While descending, I put my Landing Lights on either at or just before 10,000 ft as required, ( Beoing 737-800), but if descending through cloud, and at dusk or night, I can't remember ever seeing any lights reflected off a cloud. I use Rex Essential Overdrive, and this may be something for that team to consider, or could it be that there is a way to achieve this? See what people say here before Posting over on the Rex Forum.
January 5, 201313 yr Happy New Year to you as well! The feature you are proposing would be very cool, but could be very difficult to program and performance heavy, similar to how aircraft shadows are already quite buggy and not performance friendly. I'm not too familiar with what rendering steps would be necessary to simulate light reflections off of clouds (multiple reflection passes by the graphics card?), so perhaps someone else with more technical knowledge could chime in on the practicality of this proposal.
January 5, 201313 yr Don't think it's possible because (afaik) the clouds aren't 'volumetric' (if that's the right word) or 3D. You can't do much with light and a flat texture.
