August 11, 200421 yr Hello all, I used to be a regular around here but after my computer was destroyed, I was kick off the habit. Luckily for me I have finally got myself a new "ride". FS is runnin pretty smooth and I am relatively happy. I'm running an Athlon 2200 with 512MB ram and a GeForce FX 5700LE and Windows XP Pro. I get good frames every flight except in heavy clouds. Now when it slows in the clouds it stays at a consistant choppiness, which leaves me to believe the graphics card is at fault. So here are my questions.1) Is my graphics card causing the problem with my low cloud FPS, and what would be a card for me to consider if this is the case? And now a random question :)How can I disable the repositioning of the aircraft when I load a new flight plan? As I remember I used to be able to load a new flight plan after I had finished a previous one and I wouldn't have the reload everything. My apologies if this post is in the wrong forum, things have gotten pretty crazy around here since I've been gone! Thanks in advance,Brian ---Brian Bash---398 HR MEL PPL and climbing!
August 11, 200421 yr Try downloading FSW's cloud fix in the library. I think that's supposed to help a bit.Eric
August 11, 200421 yr Your card isn't the problem, it's the clouds, they can have a drastic effect on the performance depending on the weather. One of the higher end cards will help, such as a Radeon 9800 pro or a FX5950. Until then try the cloud texture fix or reducing some of the settings.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW

XP itself likes to have almost that much to run. Take your 2d clouds all the way to the left and the 3d clouds all the way to the right. Don't try to have both and the 3d clouds are much better looking.:D
August 11, 200421 yr "things have gotten pretty crazy around here since I've been gone!"Yeah, these darn Avsim guys never stop. :-)billg
August 11, 200421 yr I'd agree that adding another 512MB of RAM will help, though heavy clouds still challenge most rigs.
