January 14, 201313 yr Hi everyone, Can I install VRoute with Ipad or Samsung Galaxy ? Which is better ? Thanks !
January 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member No, you cannot install windows programs on either device. Noah Bryant
January 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member To be installed on a Surface the app has to be available on the Windows Store, which I doubt vRoute is. I'm sure it would also have to be modified for Windows 8/Tablet compatibility too. It will be pretty unlikely to see apps for niche markets such as ours for Surface any time soon (if ever). January 15, 201313 yr The Surface with Windows 8 Pro (ie. not the Surface with Windows RT) can run normal Windows applications as well as the new Metro/Modern/whatever-they-are-calling-them apps.
January 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member How do you get Win 8 Pro on it? Or do you just buy it that way? Noah Bryant
January 15, 201313 yr How do you get Win 8 Pro on it? Or do you just buy it that way? There are two different tablets under the Surface brand. One has an ARM CPU, runs Windows RT and is restricted to installing apps through the Windows app store. The second one has an Intel i5 CPU, runs the full version of Windows 8 Pro and can run any Windows application.
January 15, 201313 yr Yeah I was thinking about getting a pro surface because my battery seems to be slowly dieing in this ipad 2. Chris Miller
January 15, 201313 yr Cool - thanks for the info! The one point I forgot to add was a note about price. Microsoft is pricing the Surface Pro tablet more in line with Ultrabooks than iPad or Android tablets. It isn't a cheap option. I think prices are expected to start around $800US. Also be aware that with a full version of Windows, the 64GB model could quickly become quite cramped for space.
