Unrealistically violent nose up, roll, and Aircraft Overstress crash just after takeoff

Featured Replies

Hello. I am brand new to PMDG and fairly new to piloting as well so bear with me. I have been experiencing 2 problems so I will post 2 Threads and use this as the header to both with the links to each other below.

Other issue:

Tail Number Not Changing

I have been try to fly entirely by hand. No automatics or FMC. I am not sure if this is possible or supposed to be done. I just like to know that I am able to do so if needed so that is how I am trying to learn. I have the flaps set and lift off the runway. I am at about 170 knots and begin to raise the flaps(I am not sure if this is the issue) and the plane just starts to fly itself in an uncontrollable and unrealistically violent spin. I'm talking over several rotations a second. I can try to record a video and put it on YouTube if that will help.

sounds like you are stalling the plane, lets see the video.

I thought so too, but all I can think of is that I am leaving ground effect. I am making no abrupt motions. In fact, had not even retracted the flaps yet in the video. I am sorry for the flickering. I am not sure what program to use to record that.

The video will be up soon

. It the time of my posting, it is being uploaded.

It's stange, I had a the same issue a while ago when I was just setting my NGX to ATT mode and flying by hand, it would go crazy at some point like shown in your video. If I fully aligned the IRS in Nav mode properly the problem didn't happen. Some weird bug.

From a quick look at your video it seems you don't have the IRS set up correctly. Obviously it wouldn't matter on the real plane as the IRS doesn't alter physics but on the NGX there is a weird connection to this bug.

Wow that is a peculiar one, have no idea, will test it when i get home from work.

Just tried it, happened on the first try, i guess the team will fix it in SP2 if they see this post.

As to why this is happening, you arent setting up the nav systems properly, you need to enter the position into the FMC so the aircraft knows where you are, have you flown the included tutorial?

Thank you for the help! I'll have to program the FMC until this is fixed. I have not reviewed the training materials yet, but I was pretty sure this was a bug so I posted before doing so. I'll probably start reviewing today. I had just been messing around with the plane so far.

If those are the fps you actually get you might want to turn down some settings! That looks like 1 or 2 frames/sec there, maybe thats just to little for the NGX simulation to properly operate, just an idea, unless the major stutters we see are just because of the video.

It looks fine on my screen. It's just the video. It did not record properly.

It doesn't require programing the FMS, just aligning the IRS's correctly in NAV, which can be done completely independant to the FMS.

i have flown on several occasions where I have done nothing but get in do touch and goes and have not had this problem, I have gone through and tried different stuff and the only thing that I have found is that maybe your trim is set improperly. That is where I would look. also are you using the keyboard or are you using a joystick?

its not the trim. To recreate this bug You have to start by setting the IRS off, then setting them to NAV and let them align without setting the LATLON position.

Yep exactly, or set to ATT mode (which doesn't include require LATLON potision).

@towman07 if you just jump in the NGX without using the IRS units (off) it wont happen.
